Hi ROG,

What a really, really great listen! I'm in awe of your orchestration.

In all the years that I've been listening to your work, never once have you disappointed! I love the this. No one writes songs anymore about how to play a game or steps to dance and I found it really refreshing to sit here and listen to you work this technique to its very best.

Terrific stuff!

All the best,
Noel

Great groove happening, and I like the fx you used on the vocal too, very effective.

Good one, Rog!

Thanks, Dave.
Pleased that you found it fun - that's exactly what I was hoping for.
Probably a good move not trying the dance though!

Hi Bluage.
Loved the story about learning the dances and I hope your sister gives it a try.
We've all had a go in our family, right down to our nine-year-old granddaughter, who was easily the best!
Many thanks for the review.

"in the pocket" as J&B said- everything fits the period and the dancing-fun purpose.
Those horn RT`s don`t get heard too often around here and they sure like your song!

Genius! laugh

Is that chorusing I'm hearing on the vocals?

Fun song, solid work as usual.

Thanks for being frivolous!

Hi David.
Always pleased to get your opinion and many thanks for the nice comments.
The effect on the vocals is similar to stereo chorus, but uses just pitch shifting,
as opposed to chorus which uses pitch and time modulation. It's done with the
Eventide Ultra Harmoniser plugin - if you only have one expensive plugin, then
that is the one to have in my humble opinion. A lot of my plugins are free ones, but
I used to have a hardware 949 Harmoniser back in the day, which I loved, so I saved up
and took the plunge on the Eventide plugin. Never regretted it!
Thanks again,

ROG.

Hi Floyd,
Thanks for the review and all the positives.
I love all the horn RTs. I tend to work in Realband rather than BiaB,
so I just hunt through the RTs list and quite often mix lots of different
styles - if it sounds right I use it!
The video?
I'm on it.

Many thanks, ROG.

Loved the harmony vocals and the horns... very cool 60's vibe to this.

My only nit is that the vocals can stand to come up a bit in the mix. They get lost to the music in a few places.

Great job on this project.

HI Herb.
You're absolutely right about the pressure - sometimes it's good to just let loose on
a project without worrying about the end product.
Many thanks for the review and I'll take another look at the level of the vox.

Really enjoyed this one!

Steve

Hi Steve.
Thanks for the review and the kind comments.
For years I mixed in Powertracks, but these days I use Mixbus32C more and more.
Although I can patch effects into a channel in Powertracks, I like the immediacy
of having EQ and dynamics on every channel. It also allows me to use my 64bit effects
which don't seem to want to work with j-bridge in 32bit applications. Plus, it works like
the old large-format mixers which I used back in the day.

We saw a Tom Petty video concert many years ago and he had a horn section called the Soul Lips. Where'd you find those guys?

This sounds like The Traveling Wilburys got teleported back to the early 60's!

No need to parse this production out...your vocal and instrumental performances, the horns, the cool write and the tight mix are all in the pocket. You have a real knack for getting loud mixes that never lose anything and, actually, gain in presence.

One word: FUN!

J&B

Hi J&B.
You know I always value your input and I'm really pleased you approved of this offering.
Maybe I'll give Janice a shout when I'm doing the video!
Many thanks for the review, you guys - I had lots of fun putting this together, so I'm

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
