MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas is here, it's within our sight;
And choirs of children do sing "Silent Night";
Christmas is here, and, try as we might,
Christmas, at last, has now arrived.

The kids gorge on sweets and play with their toys;
The grown-ups eat well and make loads of noise ...
The pets play together, the cat with the dog,
The snow falls at last, 'mid mist, rain and fog.

Christmas is here - it's come once again
To tell us a child has been born, God made Man.
To tell us the fables of days long ago
When wise men came bearing gold, incense and myrrh.

[BRIDGE]

Santa has left; with him, the Christ Child,
Whom legend tells us were ever so mild;
The grown-ups yawn loudly and slowly retire
The children look up and play with a smile.

Christmas is over, and so we resume
Our daily routines, for New Year now looms;
The cat and the dog go fight as before,
The goodwill's for Christmas - and here no more.

[VIBES SOLO]

Christmas has gone, and with it all our light;
New Year is coming - oh Lord, see our plight;
Be patient Thou, Lord, if you can still abide
Our frail human nature, and it's not too late.

When stars shine in skies and people believe
In magical tales that wonder do give,
When Santa flies past and the Christ Child is here,
Stay with us, Lord, for evening draws near.

Wow, thank you beatmaster!!! I actually wrote the lyrics last year and left them somewhere, forgotten about ... and now that it's two months to Christmas, I remembered them and thought I'd finally set them to music :-)

Thanks for such nice comments! :-)

James,

An interesting reading. The music has a good "Christmas vibe" to it. The vocal is a little loud. I'd turn that down a bit and let ot "sit in the music".

A good Christmas song is still a good Christmas song regardless of the time of year, and you did a really good job on this one. Thanks for sharing!

floyd jane: Thank you! Yes, everyone tells me, on every song (haha), that my vocals are too loud against the music. It must be my headphones or something! hahaha. I'll turn it down a notch and see what happens :-)

Ember: Thank you so much for your nice comments and, of course, for listening!

Hi James,

This is the very first Christmas song I've heard this year!

You have some nicely effective Christmas imagery in these lyrics.

The backing sounded very well suited to this presentation. It had a relaxed and friendly feel to it. My only thought, and I don't know if this was my headphones or my hearing, but as I listened, I kept wondering how this track would sound if the backing was around 3-4 decibels louder; it seemed a little on the quiet side to me.

I must say... I liked how the bridge is where 'Christmas arriving' transitions into 'Christmas leaving'... creative!

Thanks for posting.

Regards,
Noel

Nice Christmas song, and a pleasant sounding backing.

Agree with floyd that the vocals could come down a notch or the backing up.

Nice work.

Noel and Peter F: thank you. I'll have a look at the vocal / backing track levels asap - when everyone says it, they're probably onto something :-) .

Noel: thanks for noticing the bridge placing :-) . Yes, it was deliberate - great that it was noticed!!! Thanks for such a detailed comment and for listening!

Peter F: thank you - gave it a try at creating a Christmas song :-) Thankfully, Christmas is still a couple of months away, so I can tinker with it, haha. Thanks so much for listening!

Nicely done, James smile I thought if flowed nicely and it definitely has those Christmassy vibes. Nothing wrong with it coming a little early - I found your vocal delivery to be very poignant as well.

Thanks for sharing!

Traditional imagery in the lyrics always works for Christmas. Especially liked the use of VocalMms in the backing track.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
