I have a song that is in the standard folded format. The "chorus" of the song plays through 3 times using the standard repeat format.
After the last time through (the 3rd chorus) the song enter a long, 35 measure "tag ending". I would like to add another "repeat" within the "tag ending" i.e. there would be two separate "repeats", one in the "chorus" and one in the "tag".
The "tag" repeat would only repeat within the "tag" ending.
I'm having some problems adding this second repeat in the "tag" section and am wondering perhaps BIAB doesn't allow a second separate repeat in a song.
Any thoughts on this?
Rats! I see I just posted this to the wrong Forum category. Should be under the BIAB section. Sorry, I'll repost there.
My understanding is that there is only one section of the song that can have repeats, which is the number of choruses.
However, the Song Form Maker might allow you to achieve your desired result. The Song Form Maker allows you to define sections of a song (A, B, C etc.), and then rearrange the song by simply typing the form you want (e.g. AABABAACA). You can revisit the dialog to change the form at any time.

It depends what you mean. Yes, you can only have one repeat defined by the number of choruses, but you can also add repeats from the edit menu. These are more of a visual thing as the underlying multiple bars are really there.
Anyway, have a look at the menu Edit->Song Form->Repeats/codas/1st-2nd endings. This may do what you want.
Right, makes sense what you guys are saying...that the repeats can only occur within the choruses. What I'm trying to do, unsuccessfully, is to add a repeat within a "tag" ending so I can add in a RealTrac solo in the "tag" as it repeats.
I'll give VideoTrack's suggestion a shot. Other than that, I guess it might be easier to unfold the song and add in the needed "tag" repeat.
Jeff, Great. Try this but please do report back here on the success or otherwise of your outcomes, and directions that were taken. This can assist others (us included) in the future.

I use the expanded song format, and add the repeats with the "Repeats/Endings" process. At 255 bars and 4 betas per bar, I more that 8 minutes at 120bpm. That's more than enough for me. But more is always better.
Since the Repeat/Ending is a print function, you are pretty much allowed to do what you want. I often have repeats within repeats inside a "chorus". Tags are not necessary (but available) since you can just drop through the last repeat into the ending or tag. I think the number of repeats (exactly same notation) is unlimited, but you can only have 4 endings, unless of course you can stack them within each other
I have some pretty complex charts built using this method, including multi-line lyrics. And since the underlying song is untouched, you can change instruments, even the melody or style, leaving a simplified printed form for you.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
