I just saw a notification about the release on my Mac. I'm in no rush to upgrade just yet as there seems to be too much music software out there that is still not compatible. Having checked System Report to see which apps are still 32 bit I found these listed.

Amplitube 3 and Custom Shop (IK Multimedia)
AriaReporter (Plogue Art)
AudioChordWizard (PG Music)
AuthorisationManager (IK Multimedia)

I know IK Multimedia are working on upgrades, along with Native Instruments and many others.

Yes, Catalina released here https://www.apple.com/macos/catalina/

Band-in-a-Box 2019 is 64 bit, and Catalina compatible. (note that the Audio Chord Wizard is built in to the main 64 bit app, and the standalone 32-bit Audio Chord Wizard.app is not needed and obsolete)

Any Band-in-a-Box versions 2018 or earlier are 32 bit, and won't run on Catalina (since Catalina only runs 64 bit app).

Catalina features like Sidecar (extra monitor using iPad or AppleTV) work well with Band-in-a-Box 2019. Band-in-a-Box 2019 runs great on Catalina and there are no known Catalina/Band-in-a-Box issues.

Have Fun!

As the IK Multimedia apps (Amplitube 3, Custom Shop and Authorisation Manager) are not 64 bit yet would it be advisable not to upgrade to Catalina yet?

And what about Aria Reporter, is that now obsolete?

Well, much of IK is 64 bit but, until the Authorization Manager updates, there's no real point, IMO.

Only upgrading the laptop to 10.15 and will be installing BIAB 2019 in a day or two.

I make my living on the desktop so that's gonna be awhile.

I upgraded my Macbook Air to Catalina and all went well on the install, you do get lots of messages asking if you want some apps to be able to access certain areas though. This I guess is the extra layers of security Apple has built in, and probably why some apps need updating, not counting the 32 bit ones. I do have a copy of BiaB 2019 on the Air which works fine except for the Amplitube RealTracks, which I expected. I am leaving the update to Catalina on my iMac until IK and Native Instruments get things sorted.

That's it exactly but there's a new wrinkle:

Unverified apps will now give you only two choices, Cancel or Trash if you double-click to open. You can't make them trusted — which doesn't mean there isn't a workaround: Right-click (or whatever method you use to open the Secondary menu) and select Open — this brings up another menu that gives you a third choice: open anyway and assume the risk. Once you do that, your Mac will remember this and open the app as usual.

I discovered this with the open source LibreOffice.

With me, it's my 2012 MBP that's running Catalina. I make my living on an iMac Pro and that's the one that gets to wait till a number of apps are updated—some, by the developers; others, after I spend the "Dough for the Do-Re-Mi" (1970s BMI slogan but I like it even though I'm ASCAP)

Amplitube 3 and Custom Shop (IK Multimedia)
Amplitude 4 and the current Custom Shop are 64 bit but that doesn't matter. The License Manager is still 32 bit — until that's fixed, IKM plugs and VIs won't work in OS 10.15.

I had this happen with Zoom Guitar Lab. It is 64 bit but Catalan flagged it up. Works fine though.
