You should begin by asking your doctor. He or she likely will have some thoughts about the best way for you to proceed. Most offices also will print out a resource list for you.

+++ HERE +++ is a good start from the National Institute Of Health (NIH) website.

Hi Cecil,

I'm really, really sorry to hear that you've had colon cancer. I hope things are settling down for you as smoothly as they possibly can.

Just on two years ago, I had my prostate removed because it had advanced cancer. At the time, I was advised to go onto hormone therapy as well as radiation therapy. While I didn't need radiation therapy in the end, along with chemotherapy, radiation therapy seems to be one approach that is commonly used for most cancers. This would be worth discussing with your doctor.

In case this is useful information, my urologist did not begin my after-cancer treatment for a couple of months following the operation. He gave my body a chance to recuperate a bit first. This is also something that you should talk to you medical professional about.

Hang in there. I wish you all the very best with your healing.
Noel

Cecil, I would have thought that it was near impossible these days to have had surgery for colon cancer without a team of physicians (including an oncologist, surgeon, and gastroenterologist) debating a treatment plan before surgery was ever undertaken. No one discussed options before now?

Where is the closest research hospital in your area?

I live within 50 miles of the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals (Cleveland) and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Doctors within 20 miles of my home are not great but those hospitals are.

In a research hospital you will find the latest techniques and clinical trials.

...Deb

Off topic, sort of: year or so ago a friend of mine broke her back will living in the Chinese countryside - not exactly the place I would want to have a serious operation at but she could not be moved. When she met her surgeon he had just finished a rotation at the Cleveland Clinic for the type of operation she needed to be able to walk again.

God bless!

I agree with Keith. However 13 years ago I had a stage 3 colon cancer section removed. Because I was in good shape physically I started chemotherapy a week after surgery. I had 8 weeks of 100% chemo followed by 8 more weeks at 80%; note that they will give you as much chemo as you can take without major side affects. I am still cancer free.

Get yourself to an oncologist ASAP.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Completely agree sir. My Dad went through that same thing about the time you did. He's good too luckily. Ever since then I make sure to get screened every few years as it's likely to be inherited.

I can't help with that, but check with Life Extensions lef.org and they might be able to help with supplements to take to help the therapy your oncologist and medical team do.

Good luck. I hope you heal quickly and completely.

Cecil,

Like others the only advice I would have given was the obvious i.e. find a good oncologist and medical team, hopefully you are already there. Also redundant but you have my strongest wishes and prayers for a positive outcome.

Well first off prayers/healing energy to you.
The obvious has been said about getting a medical team. Do not overlook "alternative" therapies to complement the traditional medical.

John brings up a good point. When I was on chemo I was super tired all of the time. The only thing that helped me was protein shakes. These shakes gave me enough energy to make through the day. YMMV

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
