What a great song. Got a smile on my face and a very laid back feeling from the very beginning. I love the arrangement with the mix of side stick and electronic snare. The Rhodes (?) piano panned left and finger picked guitar on right. Like the positive message.

Hi beatmaster,
Another fine listen!
I love small ensemble feel and the mix is superb. Everything - instruments and vocals - is crystal clear here through my headphones.
You entertained me!
Regards, Noel

The Rhodes sounds cool and balances the acoustic well, though when it gets into it's lower notes it dominates a little. I assume that's why you have the bass over with the acoustic. The reverb or delay trails on the vocal are a bit long in a few spots. I think the kick drum is a bit too clicky for the ensemble and I'd love to hear the bass up the middle but they are minor quibbles. A lovely, positive and gentle song - well done.

Drums are noticeably clicky especially at the beginning. Nice vocal, arrangement and sentiment.

A nice song, beatmaster. A pleasant "relaxed" listen.
Nice BAND and arrangement. Like Ray, I think the bass should be up the middle.
A good vocal.
The solo works well. Enjoyed the listen.

A very pleasant ballad.
I agree that the electric piano gave this added dimension.
Nice vocal delivery. Great all around.

"WE USED TO SAY, THEYLL COME A DAY, WHEN OUR LIFES BECOMES A LITTLE SHORTER WE LOSE SOME FRIENDS, ALONG THE WAY, MAKES US feel that LITTLE BIT STRONGER" Very nice! Aging is always on my mind...one way or another. Less so on my younger wife... We both like the lyric, the band choice, the vocal and the mix. Not much left to add other than we very much enjoyed listening...and contemplating. You have some very appealing vocal chops! J&B

Beatmaster, Smooth and kind tune. Vocals are warm, yet very clear, so is the message. I like what you did with panning on the mix. Arrangement works very well. Since you welcome all comments, I feel that drums, although they fit well, sound a bit "synthy" compared to acoustic choices of other instruments. If it was me I would try either play around with FX to take out "synth" edge, try a more realistic synth or maybe even a choice from Real Drums? It is a very nice tune, I think it deserves some experimenting. Thank you for sharing!
Misha.

A pretty song sung by a good singer. I liked the rhyming patterns, too.

Dear 'beatmaster'...
Your song, Call On Me, commanded my attention immediately upon hearing the song's intro. It was the combination of Real Tracks you used. Together, they produced a musical soundscape that was laid-back, almost funky in a mellow way, and bluesy, too, just this side of being 'jazzy', but blended with the folksy feel of the 'Americana' genre. Honestly, it was a startling and unique combination of instruments, something I believe I may not have encountered on the User's Forum.
The lyrics, particularly as rendered through your committed vocal performance, make the case for simplicity of expression as a means of unleashing the power of the feelings revealed in those lyrics. The message of undying loyalty, of being the hand outstretched to the one reaching out for it, comes through like a promise kept.
I believe you really, truly felt this song, deep down in your heart.

Hi beatmaster,
everything very fine with this song. Love the narrative, the arrangement is great (yeah, excellent e-piano)and you sing it really very soulfully.
Possibly the whole thing would get sort of 'tighter' if the vox were closer to the backing track, but this is - as always - a matter of taste and I'm anything but a mixing expert anyway.
Very good job.
Cheers,
Stefan

Very much enjoyed this, my favorite of yours that I have heard.
You have a few good suggestions about the mix already.

Hello Beatmaster ...
What a cool song! You have an excellent voice. I'll soon be 73 years old, so I can fully identify with this. Fortunately, I''m in pretty good health ... beat cancer almost 6 years ago. My wife's health is very precarious, so the thoughts you present here echo in our minds much more often than a few years back.
The only suggestion I have has already been mentioned ... moving the bass to the center will give it a more balanced sound. Regardless, this was an excellent listen. Wishing you the best ...
Alan

You ain't gonna believe this but.... I have the same exact JA-S22 JVC amp that you have in the picture on your music page. Bought that amp waaaay back when I was a starving musician ( was that redundant?) It still cranks.
Cool song too BTW

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
