Scott,
Really nice playing but the 1st minute and a half had the backing at almost buried level with the snares slap being the most prominent element after the solo guitar.
I reckon the solo playing would benefit from a more snug fitting backing level.
In terms of the song the guitar is alive and the backing is a ghostly visitation.

Cheers

'Scott C'...

Where do you find the inspiration for your instrumental productions??? I feel that you are on some kind of mission to see how deep you can get into your soul. Every time I listen to your compositions, I hear less and less instrumentation, and what there is of it, is arranged in such a quiet way that it's like the other side of your song, but in another dimension.

Haunts doesn't suggest spooks, goblins, skeletons, or bats, but it does evoke spirits that desire to break through the veil that separates us from them, to reassure us that there is, indeed, a 'peaceable kingdom', somewhere...

There's more to music than sounds.

Nice instrumental, Scott! I always like your tone and note choices.

I think Ray might be right about the bed being too low in the mix, would be worth trying to bring that up and see how the track sounds; very hard to hear some of the elements you mention. And that would enhance the guitar because it would be playing off something.

Cool little lick at the end with your whammy pedal!

Nicely done, Scott - I found it flowed really nicely, and the cello was a great touch. Makes for a unique and engaging listen.

Thanks for sharing smile

Hi Scott,

I hadn't heard from you for a while. Than, this morning SC warned me, Scott has a new song! I listened to it first thing this morning! Well, morning... I mean 3 o'clock. I couldn't sleep, probably thinking of your absence.

As always, your soloplaying is swell and this melody is very nice, a bit dreamy (could be the time of day I listened). But as Ray stated, your backing band is too soft compared with your sologuitar. Give their volume a push (upwards!) then all will fit well. Unless you did it on purpose, therefore you called it Haunted, didn't you?

Nice day,
Hans

Scott,

Really like your tone and effects and playing in this. Might be my favorite of yours. Cool stuff...

(I agree with Ray and Dave about the backing levels.)

Really enjoyed your haunting melody... Cool ending...

Thanks Ray for checking out the song. Thanks for the feedback on the mix. I have a new pair of hearing aids and I am totally lost with the backtrack solo volumes. I mix first with the headphones then try and adjust with the monitors after. I have bumped up the volume of the backtrack. Funny when I compared the original wav to the Soundcloud playback it is totally different.

Scott,
Very nice track! Your guitar works extremely well with orchestra strings. The only thing I would like to hear backing track a little louder, especially drums.
Thank you for sharing!

Man, what a great idea to use the strings.
They are perfect for supporting the melody.

Your guitar playing is sublime and the
tone couldn't be better for the for this piece.

...so easy to get lost in it.

Excellent!

Thanks Hans for checking out the song. Yes I agree the backing track was to far back in the mix. I have new hearing aids that were working a bit to good. Glad you liked the song.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
