1/ The screen displays 2 lines : the first one interesting for me (melody and chords), the second one below with F Key always empty. How to get only the first line displayed ?

2/ When I try to export a video, I get a one line / 4 measures. I would prefer 4 lines of 7 measures each, and the possibility to get a smooth page change (as I see on YouTube scores). Is an option (or many) to have such a video file ?

Thank you

Armagnac, firstly welcome.

I wonder could you provide some more detail about where you are looking and seeing the F Key. Is this near the song title, on the Mixer window or elsewhere. If you press <Control>T to bring up a different screen layout, are the F Key and the Chorus/Melody items in the same location?

Actually I see the chords in full screen. If I choose the Notation item and choose the 6th item (in French Mode affichage propre), I see now a 2 lines score, the first one is the melody (sax tenor), the second below with a F key completely empty.
When I try to make a video, it is this screen that is choosed by the program and I don't know how to modifify this screen. First, no second line, then get more lines with the sax tenor melody.
Difficult to explain because I'm a newbie, and more difficult, a French one !
Thank you

Armagnac,
As for your first question: always two systems (violin and bass keys) are displayed in the notation view, even if you only need one system for your melody. To my knowledge this cannot be switched off, you can only select which system to print when printing the notes.
It would by a nice feature to switch on/off unneeded systems also in the notationview.

If I understand this correctly, we’re talking about seeing both treble and bass clef in the Notation Mode and Editable Notation Mode.

If so, I concur with Brille.

Armagnac,
what you can do – as a kind of "workaround" – is to open the "Leadsheet" window (click the Leadsheet-Button). There you can choose to display only the melody track. Now you can actually see several systems below each other. In the options you can also set how many bars you want to place in one line and choose treble and/or bass clef.

Thank you. I still obtain this screen in Notation Mode, but if I try to make a video (.mp4), I see only the 2 lines, with the bass line empty as said before, and never the Notation screen with 4 lines and only the melody line.

I know it's possible (because the author Sergey Brazhnik told me he uses BB) to obtain this kind of video on YouTube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL80uQOTy3Y

I'm probably way off but... Could he possibly be talking about the 2 bar ending BIB automatically puts onto each new song?
I know I had issues with that at first.

Hello Armagnac,

I think he must have used a (third party) screen capture program and recorded a video while the song was playing. As you have found, the 'Save video' options that Band-in-a-Box provides just do one line of a notation track at a time.

Andrew but Is it possible to generate one line of a notation track at a time for a melody via BIAB like the video partiture made by Sergey Brazhnik ?

No, it shows the same as the notation window, with both clefs.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
