This problem started yesterday and despite going on live chat with Deryk, neither of us could figure out this issue.
I havn't used biab for ages due to illness, so I had an idea for a tune and decided to go for it. Now for some reason, none of the real tracks would play. I checked the RT folder and I was gobsmacked when I found it to be empty. At Deryks suggestion I deleted the BB folder and re-installed from 2016 upwards. After doing that, the RT are STILL not showing up. So, I downloaded a few RT sets and there's still nowt showing up in the RT folder despite watching the files installing. There's no other biab folder, so where the hell are the rts going to ? There's 9'5gb of RT in the RT folder so some are getting in but not others HELP
Driving me nuts

Off the top of my head:

Are you sure that you BiaB is pointing to the right folder?

Have your searched your computer for RTs?

If you haven't I would search for RTs and see if any are on your computer. If not were they on an external drive?

You also may want to check your HD for problems. Viruses can do weird things and so can failing HDs.

Good luck.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

HI
That’s very odd
Personally I would look for them outside of Biab, just using the Windows File manager.
Assuming a standard installation of Biab on C: I would expect to see them at:
C: bb/ RealTracks I have the ultraplus build and have:
98.2 Gb – 117,896 files – 3,292 folders.

That a lot of files to go astray .
Each realtrack seems to have 2 files one .WMA and one .bt1.

You could try searching all you drives for *.wma and see if a lump turn up some where odd (maybe accidently dragged and dropped)
All the above assumes that you had your realtracks on C: and were not calling them in from say a hard drive or other location.

So, I've done a search and looked through all my bb folders including RT, but they just ain't there. Deryk is as flummuxed as I am

Mario, when I'm at the install stage, it says D:/ BB, and they havn't gone anywhere else. I DID a check on my D drive and no problems were found.

So are you saying in spite the above install path there are none on D: bb / RealTrack?

Just as a matter of interest have they found there way to C: ? (say c: bb / Realtracks)
Or any other plugged in drive?

You say you say them go somewhere could you not try a few more and watch where they go.
Something very odd here.

Mike
PS
Another point is drive D an internal hard drive, or usb hard drive as usb drives can change their letter if other usb devices are plugged in the letter can depend on the order the devices are plugged in.

Mike D is an internal drive which I had put into the pc when it was built for me. I've checked my C drive and they're not there. I'll download another set and see If I can spot where they're going

Hi Graham,

When you searched your drives, did you do it manually yourself or did you use the Windows search function?

If you didn't use Windows' search function, click on the drive in File Explorer so that you are at the root directory level and then type BASS, ACOUSTIC into seach and see what happens. You need to type it exactly as I have with a comma after Bass and a space between the comma and Acoustic

Since BASS, ACOUSTIC is the beginning of a number of Realtracks, if the Realtracks are somewhere, search will find them.

Regards,
Noel

Furry,

Probably not it, but just to be sure (since I've seen it before)...when you downloaded the installers, you did actually "run" each of the downloaded installer files and tell them where to install the content, correct? Are you saying the installer successfully installed, but then there is nothing there?

Either turn off your virus protection or look at the virus protection's file locker. Some virus protection programs delete files while others place them in a protected file locker.

ok guys, turned off anti virus, re-installed biab ( 2018 ), did a fresh install, watched the RTs installing into D:/BB and yet looking at the RT folder there's nothing there. Did a windows search on C DRIVE AND D drive but that turned up blank.

This is probably far out there but by chance is your D:/BB folder in read only mode? Right click on that file and check all of the folder's properties.

Hi Dan, I DO know where the RT folder is.
Everyone else, I'm doing a manual download of all the RTs, and that seems to be working fine

All sorted. I paused the anti virus and did an umpteenth install, still no real tracks, so downloaded all the packs manually and that's done the trick. Would dearly love to know why it all went belly side up to start with !

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
