Hi everybody,

no big back story this time...

The song was inspired by a great funk tune Will-Josef came up with here on the Forum a couple of months ago, which made me think ‘Yeah, why not having a go at another Funk song...?

So I asked Funky Fritz (you may remember him from ‘Gimme Your Dough’, posted here last year), if he was ready for another round, and, yes, he was.

So here’s AIN’T GOT TIME and in case you think that the silly cartoon style video doesn’t really fit the music - well, you’re probably right. But making it was huge fun (as well as a challenge).

Please forgive me that pathetic skit on my musical lighthouse in the seventies, Wolfman Jack. (BTW: The chocolate sauce thing is taken from one of his original radio shows).

My special thanks go to two couples you know very well and who gave me their generous permission (and thus the great honor !) to use their images in the video. Who that is? Just wait and see...

As usual Maha, who is still far from being recovered, did all the sound jobs - she said that this was a pretty tricky thing to mix, and she really spent some time on it. But I think it has paid off and that she did very well again - where would I be without her (in all aspects!)?

We both would be very happy if you enjoyed the song and the video.

Thanks for listening and watching and all the best to all of you,

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Well, given the choice of listening to audio or watching one of your videos it's pretty much a no brainer! Always a lot of fun and so well done.

AND in this particular case watching the end credits is as good as the video, I enjoyed seeing two of my favorite BIAB couples show up on the wall of the Simpsons house (don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone else so I won't mention them here)

Excellent music! Very well done and the lyrics are well written and fun.

And Maha has some serious production chops! Mix is absolute perfection.

Very much enjoyed this one!

Man, that was awesome both video and audio.... First time I saw one of your videos, I have a long way to go on my video chops.

I love funk music so this was all around magic sauce for me.

Thanks for sharing!

P.S. - David Hasselhoff has nothing on you! smile

Stefan...

Your music video production skills are so impressive, that they threaten to overshadow your songs smile !!!

Any old way, the video was a novel, colorful, fast-paced and freewheeling, madcap, irresistibly humourous and vastly entertaining frame for presenting your cleverly-worded song, Ain't Got Time. Your all-too-obvious command of the English language combined with your even more obvious musical facility with the genres of R & B, the 'blues', and funk, makes me speculate that you probably were born in the good 'ol U.S.A., and then emigrated to Germany much later in your life, ha, ha, ha! grin. If my wishes could come true, I would love to watch your video presented as a 'short subject' to an audience before the showing of a feature film at a local movie theater!

Ain't Got Time sounds like a tightly peformed and quite professionally arranged production. You chose and applied the Real Tracks like an entertainer would select musicians to record with in a studio. I really like the way you changed-up the tempo of the song, made it sound unexpected, and therefore more exciting.

I told you recently that I had been waiting for your next post/production, and, boy, did you ever deliver on that wish !!!

Listening to and watching your songs is always lots of fun smile.

Truly,

LOREN

Some seriously good lyrics. Love those little alt phrases. The video shines during these. So much fun. This sounds wonderful, even cranked up. The band and you had some serious funk and fun. Head-bobbing stuff. Pure entertainment.

This is true classic funk, words and music are pure authentic gold! Your vocals are perfect fit for funk! Great band, those BIAB funky RTs are super cool!!! Excellent horns arrangement! That bridge part works exceptionally well, magic! I have just one wish: more funk, please!

And I enjoyed also the skillfully made video, including those pictures in the end laugh

Stefan,
Listened to audio only ( will save that video, I know it`ll be awesome!) to hear just how good your vocal phrasing, harmonies ( some of the tightest and most energised I`ve heard on this forum),arranging, etc etc are.
Brilliant! Now for that wild video...

Great video, lots of laughs.

The cameo appearance of J&B and Alan & Di was a cool touch!

Hello Stefan ...

Wie geht's dir, mein fruend? Und auch, die Frau?

Your music and videos are always such a treat. Great song with a seriously funny video! Loved the lyric ... really cool! Di and I are big fans of Funk, so this was an extra-special treat for us.

You and Maha are so talented with the video and audio production. It takes a lot of skill, time and patience to create such a terrific video ... kudos to both of you. You're not just an excellent singer and songwriter ... you're also an exceptional entertainer.

That was so much fun! And thank you for the honor and pleasure of having us, and J&B, featured at the end. We truly appreciate that!

Wishing you and Maha the very best with special thoughts for Maha's continued recovery. I can report that Di is doing much better ... better than she has in many years. I'm spending as much time with her as I can, so I am not here very much. But I hope to be more active on the forum in the very near future.

Bis spaeter!

Alan & Di

Hi Stefan,

I'm amazed! You told us you had no time and see what you did. I love it very much, but to be honest... I think I loved the combination videoclip-song the most. I'm always wonder how you get all these things you sing about fitso nice in a video. I'm almost jealous about those skills of you and Maha.

There is one tiny thing: I miss someone on your wall cry

I had a blast listening and watching the video.

Really, really well done - especially the horns, which I'd assumed were from a RealTrack, so bonus points there! laugh

Oh boy, Leon, that was (resp. IS) quite a challenge for an old german fart: You wouldn't believe how many differnt meanings the word 'sucker' has, when you look it up in the dictionary.

And worse still: None of them seems to fit 'tearing the roof off...'). And the entire web doesn't deliver an explanation...

But I think I nevertheless did get the picture - thanks a lot for a very kind comment which not only made my day but also kept me busy half of it ;-)))...

Take care,

Stefan

Dear Loren,

reading one of your comments (which, in fact, is a far too profane expression for those artificially turned linguistic masterpieces)is always a real treat, no matter whom they are adressed to.

But, of course, it's especially thrilling to receive one of them yourself - couldn't imagine anyone wouldn't be excited.

And this one is not only thrilling, it simply makes me blush, so thank you so much for your incredibly nice compliments that mean even more to me as I know you're a great musician yourself..

Well, the good ole'USA - in fact I've never been there and to tell the truth I've only spent 8 or 9 holiday weeks in European countries where English is spoken in my entire life. But I've always loved the English language (maybe I do now more than ever), started early to occupy myself with American comedy (you know Tom Lehrer was and is my Lighthouse of Humor) and then there was all that incredible music fom the UK and the US (ha, don't forget Down Under: Easybeats, 10cc...).

I really consider myself blessed to be able to combine these three favorites of mine by writing and producing songs and trying to put some funny videos together. And the very best thing is that I can do all this together with Maha.

I'm very much pleased that you like our 'stuff' and (just for the record smile ) there will be more coming soon.

Thanks again for your wonderful comment.

All the very best to you,

Stefan

what a treat to read your comment - thank you so much for it !!!

I don't think I will be able to avoid writing another funk song in the future, and it's great to know in advance that there will be at least one guy enjoying it cool

Thanks again, Janne, and take care,

Hello Robert,

thank you very much for those very kind words - I really appreciate them a lot.

I have to admit that your words about the voacals came as quite a surprise to me, because I think that there are so many brilliant singers here on the forum that make me feel really small whenever I heear them singing. But, what the heck, I'm a bit flattered now and that ain't that bad, I must admit smile ..

Hope you enjoyed the video as well - thanks again for taking the time to listen.

Dear Alan,

it's so nice of you to write those german lines - I really, really appreciate that a lot.

Well first things first: Am I glad to read that Di is feeling so much better now. Better than in many years - well, that sounds terrific !!!! Maha and I do hope that this will even improve so you can finally drop that packsack filled with sorrows off your backs.

Alan, your words on our song and video are very, very generous - you know how much I admire you for your songwriting and general musical abilities so evry word you say counts (at least!) double - so thank you very much for your compliments.

Please apologize that it took some time to reply to your comment - Maha and I are still a little under the weather, recovering, well, slowly, well, very slowly recovering from the first food intoxication of our lives - man, that really is something you can do without; I have never felt that bad before in my life.

All the very best to Di and you, my friend, and thank you once again for your lovely words.

Hello Hans,

no need to be jealous, definitely no need and no reason - the things you're doing are so great !!!!!

But thanks a lot for your compliments anyway, I'm very glad that you enjoy our stuff (even more as I know that the Dutch don't consider Germans being very funny in general smile )

And just for the record: I've got good news for you: There will be at least two (as you call them) 'combination videos' out not too far from now and there will be a Hans cameo, too, in one of our next vids. Just send 500 Euros to my bank account...

Groetjes naar mijn favoriete buurt, Noord-Holland,

Hi dave,

so glad to read you enjoyds our production - thanks a lot for your friendly comment.

As to the horns arrangement: They're never RT, I always write them using the piano roll window and have the resulting MIDI files synthesized by Big Fish's Vintage Horns - they really sound great and I'm very glad I came across them.

Hi stefan,

Can't wait to see those video's, but only €500? Are you so cheap?
It sounds like humor, but we (the dutch) know Germans are not known for that...

Have a nice day,

Firstly, glad to hear Maha is better and the mix is superb.
This had to be quite a challenge to mix...so many nuances.

Janice said the video gave her happy feet smile That's her way
of saying makes me want to dance!

Your creativity seems to know no bounds. Heck, even if the
music wasn't so good the video would be entertaining but
then with the great music it's the total package.

Like all your video productions this one requires several views
to even begin to catch all the cool subtleties.

The shoutout to Wolfman was most cool.

And you are very much the funkster!

And the two of you at the end was worth the price of admission!

Sooooo much fun!

Hello, Stefan

An amazing video - extraordinary story telling, and video production skills as many others said.
I was attracted by the video too much and couldn't concentrate on the music, so I listened to the audio-only version of the Soundcloud again.
The music is also very cool.
Great vocal.
And the horn section is wonderful.
The use of Rhodes Piano is splendid.
Enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.

Best regards.

Hi Stefan and Maha,

What an incredible audio and video journey. I'm a huge, huge fan!

Because I couldn't think of anything new to add to all the above, very-well earned accolades, I thought I'd create some WordArt using some of the words and phrases that sprang to mind as I listened.

The two of you are an amazing musical team!

All the best,
Noel

As to the humour thing: That must be the reason why you provided German TV with such 'Grenades Of Humour' like Lou van Burg, en Rudi Carell.

You can consider yourself fortunate that I did not take THEM as role models ;-)))))))))))

J&B

PS Thank you for throwing our mug shots on the wall! And the website
link was very thoughtful.

Dear Janice, dear Bud,

making people chuckle - OK. Make them laugh out loud - even better. Make them watch the video or listen to the song more than once - incredible. But making people 'happy feet' - how could that ever be beaten ... smile

Like always your reply to Ain't Got Time is really heartwarming. And blushing at the same time. Thanks an awful lot for that positive feedback.

And Maha says 'Thank you very much' for mentioning her that positively. She really spent some time on that mix, discarding it over and over again - I think you can imagine how happy I am that she - despite a long way of recovery ahead - can work on our stuff thar successfully.

Yeah, the subtleties: I'm just working on a new video (three actually) and maling them up is always one of the highlights (don't want to use the word 'climax', because I don't know the plural of that word. And who would need that plural at our old age anyway ... grin ).

And oh yes: Hanging your pictures on Funky Fritz's wall was a real honour for ME.

All the best to both of you,

Stefan

Hi Noel,

what a fantastic (and laborious!) way of telling us that you enjoyed Ain't Got Time - thank you so very much for that great word art image.

I know, being vain is no good at all, but I have to admit that I had it just printed out. I think I'm gonna blow it up, frame it and hang it up in a unobtrusive place in our house.

Like next to the front door. WHERE EVERYBODY MUST SEE IT !!!! grin grin grin

Thank you so much, you're just lovely !!!!

All the best,

Stefan

Hi Marty,

thanks a lot for your lovely words and comments on our production.

Well, I have to admit that this one took especially much time to get it done. I think I wrote the song last fall (2018) and then worked on the vid ever since, but of course not continuously. It was the first time I tried to get things in cartoon-style, and there was a lot of uncharted territory. But it was huge fun...

Take care,

Stefan

Dear Torrey,

it's great to have you finally back here on the forum - I do hope your break wasn't do to health reasons or other nasty stuff.

Thank you so much for your awesome comment on Ain't Got Time - I really appreciate it a lot, and you know that this is even more the case as I admire your work so much.

This is (plwase believe me!!!) not for getting another positive comment, but since I know that you like uptempo stuff like a Blues Rock Shuffle and a funny video, too, you might want to have a watch at the last thing I posted while you were off the forum (Floyd said that it was the best one so far): If The Phone Don't Ring (You'll Know That It's Me). I'm pretty sure you will enjoy that one, too.

Thanks again for your very knd words that really made y day.

Really looking forward to you next song !!!!!

All the very best,

Stefan

Hi sickboy12345678,

thanks for your positive words.

The Lashout style is part of the RealTracks set #301. But I cannot tell you if this came with the regular BIAB or a special RealTracks release. I'm sure that PGMusic will be happy to inform you.

Take care,

Stefa

Hello Shigeki Adachi,

I don't know how this could happen, but I somehow skipped your very nice and kind comment when I wrote my thankyou-replies - please forgive me my sloppiness.

This is even more annoying and I'm even more sorry for that as you found very nice and detailed words to express that you enjoyed the video and the song.

So thank you so much for all that, I really appreciate your posituive comment a lot.

All the best,

Stefan

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
