I have a simple Bass line and drums I created in a Realband Sequence that I need to either add a single beat for a measure or insert a measure with one beat for each verse before it resumes the bass line. I've tried everything I can think of. Is it even possible in Real Band or BIAB? If so, how would I go about this?

I'd make the previous measure a 5/4 measure to add the extra beat (as opposed to adding a 1/4 measure after). Just a hunch for better results. It will likely regenerate for you better if you are generating any tracks, but you can try it both ways.

To do this I'd go to the Meter Map, use the INS button (insert) and change the time signature for the desired measure(s), then change the next measure back to the original time signature. see example below.

After doing this you'll need to regenerate any generated tracks like Realtracks or Realdrums (or MIDI) in order to hear any changes in generated tracks.

This being the case you may want to make use of the 'Save As' feature first, so you always have the original as an option to revert to later on.

@rharv You are a DAMN GENIUS!!!

Works great. However once I changed the meter surprisingly the notes in the subsequent measures dropped a 3rd. Strange! However I found I could quickly copy and paste to fix that as well. Regenerating resulted in chaos so I just did an undo and went from there. I have the song almost complete. I would like to dress it up with drum turn arounds like you can in biab. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Glad it helped and Yes, you can keep honing the drums;
go to the Chords window.
Click on the measure that you want a fill to lead into.
/Say you want a fill leading into bar 32./
Click bar 32 and it will turn blue and then green (my color setup) and a third click makes it blank again.
Blue is an 'A' or verse type fill.
Green is a 'B' or chorus type fill.
Regenerate drums (on a separate track if desired) to get the fills you added/forced

Again, as you learned, do it a few times and sometimes you may decide to copy a particular fill from one bar/track to another to comp what you need.
Have fun!

I've not experienced this regenerating causing things to drop a third and haven't heard of others having this occur either.
It's possible you accidentally transposed or something at that point, but it's not normal.

As an add-on, if you really want to experiment with the possibilities, depending on the RD track you are using ..
When you go to generate RD's pay attention to the 'Variations' option in the generation window.
I've found I can gain even more control by highlighting a section and limiting the drummer's selection using the variations.
See image below.
Sometimes you can force the drummer to use just the ride cymbal or just the hihat with no ride (or whatever) by defining the variation of the RD used.
These options vary depending on the RD you are using, but it is worth checking.
.. if you want to go even further down the rabbit hole of possibilities <grin>
This, in combination with the A/B section fills I mentioned above can add a lot.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
