Its been several months since I've posted a song...
Due to some medical issues...
But the good Lord is getting me back on track...
And I've been busy catching up on all of the creative songwriters...
Who make this forum so great!

It may be a bit early but I'd like to share a Christmas song with all of you...
I loooove writing Christmas songs.
I don't know if I will have time to write one this year...
So I thought I would share one from the past the good Lord gave me.

****************
Technical Info:
I can't find the details...
I made a cursory check...
And I'm certain the style & mgu file is on a HD, CD, or USB drive around here...
But I haven't found the information...
Since I generally make my on styles...
I imagine I named the style something like Style???.sty...
And dropped it in the same folder with the other files...
So please forgive for the lack of technical information.

****************

Anyway I hope you enjoy this early Christmas creation...
Even though its got some warts...
And thanks for letting me be a part of your forum!

He's What Christmas is About © J Hughes

Intro 4 Bars

The house is decorated with mistletoe and lights
The children are dreaming Christmas dreams
Every one is waiting anticipating
They're wondering what Santa brings

Christmas today seems to be one big commercial
And Santa is a super star no doubt
But when Jesus was born they called it Christmas morning
He's what Christmas is about

Middle 4 Bars

A dying tree is standing in glitter and in gold
The presents are piled beneath its leaves
Santa Claus is coming bringing more gifts for
Good girls and boys Christmas Eve

Christmas today seems to be one big commercial
And Santa is a super star no doubt
But when Jesus was born they called it Christmas morning
He's what Christmas is about

Jim,

This is a wonderful Christmas song.
Nicely written. Nice sentiment.

Warts? I certainly didn't see/hear any!!

Your vocal on this is awesome.

The underlying musical bed works perfectly. A good mix, too.

Really enjoyed this. Glad you are posting again. Merry Christmas!!

Hi Jim,

a good approach to the subject - over here they started seeling chocolate Santas already in late Seprteber...

Like always a solid composition, very, very well-sung.

All the best,

Stefan

Good to hear a new one from you! Sorry to read you had some medical issues but happy that you are on the mend.

It's so good to have you back, Jim. I was getting worried about you, but then I saw your comment on one of my songs, and my concern was assuaged.

This is a good song! Nice melody. If you had the right agent, this could easily be a new Christmas standard.

Keep 'em coming, Jim!

Hi Jim,

What to say? everything is said about your very nice Christmas song. Especially about the vocals. They are very good and strong and to me also a bit lower. Did the doctors did all that to you as well? (just a nasty joke).
And also a touch of social criticism in it! Liked it that you put things straight about Christmas...

In your song there was a very nice progression, that gives the song some extra 'dimension'(can't find another word to describe this in English).

So, glad you're back! Not alone for your comments on the songs of others, but for making your music again. Christmas 2019 can't be bad now grin

Hans

Jim,

This is a really, really beautiful song. Love your vocals - you sound better than ever! I hope your medical issues are now in the past - thank you so much for sharing this genuinely beautiful song. It's a deceptively understated production, I feel - it seems so simple and yet it communicates so well. Well done - and Happy Christmas to you when the day comes!

You can hear those warts with headphones smile ...
A bit of distortion...
But I'm glad you liked the song...
And I appreciate your well-wishes for health!

That's really a wonderful compliment...
However...
With all the talented songwriters here...
If we all had the "right agent"...
We would be creating many new "standards" smile !

Medically...
I'm not out of the Ardennes quite yet...
But at least I've escaped the artillery shelling...
Now if I only stay away from Nurse Pokem...
She's making me feel like a pin cushion smile !

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
