I managed to get a bunch of musicians (RTs) from very different genres of music to collaborate on a track. I am not supposed to use BiaB like this and I might have failed big time... it is up to you to judge...

Will, there's nothing wrong with thinking outside of the 'Box'.

This is innovative, and I don't hear any massive clashes. The cellos hold the background together while the piano does its very lively thing.

Experimental? Yes, probably. Nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with iconoclast.
I think it works - though it seems to be begging for a narrative - even a spoken word one.

Will,

A very interesting grouping of instruments. I had to look up that piano to see what it was - did not recognize it.

I think you pulled this off well. It does sound somewhat "experimental" and it all fits. Good mix.

(It would be nice if the RT names were listed to give some sense of the genres - instead of having to look them up...)

Interesting combination of instruments, has certainly a bluesy feel - minor chords are really gloomy and together with cellos sounds like a classical Nordic blues smile Slow tempo works well with the Mariana Trench in the title.

Will,
Everything works for me except maybe the drums ( can`t put my finger on why-lacking oomph perhaps?).
I don`t think there`s a "not supposed to" warning for Biab - that`s part of the fun, which you have clearly had and communicated here!
Nice title btw.

Will, as others have noted, thinking outside the box can be a great thing! It's a great way to come up with something unique and original! I think this track works well! As a matter of fact, it sounds really good to me! Thanks, Torrey

I think it's great what you did, I often think that someone like Zappa or Beefheart could do amazing things with BIAB that have never been done before. We just have to keep plugging away with the experimental mode and some choice nuggets will come eventually. I do experiment with BIAB quite a bit and one of these days I think it's gonna pay off. It just hasn't yet. Keep at it, Will.

Hi Will,

failed? On the contrary !!!! No-one on the forum can combine RealTracks that weren'Ät meant to go together as well as you do.

I love this an awful lot - it's not just most interesting, but a very enjoyable listen from the musical point of view.

Love that ending.

Congratulations on another awesome track !!!

All the best,

Stefan

Different is a positive way. i.e., creative.

Super cool title!

The piano against the cellos is captivating.

Cool!!!

Hi VideoTrack,
Thanks a lot for listening! Yes, the fact that the piano sound so lively was what attracted me and made me build this tune around it.

Thanks for your nice comments, Floyd Jane!

Your critique about not mentioning the RT names is noted and I will for sure do that in the future.

Thanks again!

I thought this came out sounding really nice - very creative, and enticing to listen to. The instruments flow quite nicely together, and in particular I like what you did with the cellos.

Thanks for sharing smile

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
