Looong request/post.

I saw the post about Usertracks below (and I support that) however my request is a bit different.

I think it would be a good idea to have a mechanism of crowdfunding specific Usertracks. Sort of local fiverr. For somebody who can play an instrument well and familiar with process of making UserTracks. Or even "classifieds" style posts. Meaning, musician would post something like:
"Can make custom User Tracks from $xx-$xxx depending on complexity. Specializing in didgeridoo. Here are samples:"
Initial supporters will get it for "shared" price and all others are by the price set by the artist.

Probably this can benefit both, musicians and PG. Specifically, larger audience / interest in BIAB. Another way would be for PG to trade Tracks with artist for discounted or free updates to the program, adding those tracks to main catalog or as optional Ultra-Super-Duper-Pack.

There are so many genres and instruments that have a very skinny presence in RT's such as Reggae,Ska,Punk,Disco,Tango,Oldies,Twist,Ethnic.. just to name a few. Some of these can be substituted with MIDI, but live is live smile

Sometimes unexpected surprises come. Pipeline posted a very nice Reggae rhythm guitar Usertrack (Thank you pipeline!) On that note, I looked at the tool Pipeline created: ReaTrak. Some advanced stuff! My head is spinning smile I must admit, it is way to complex for me, but for someone who knows what they are doing, it seems like a very useful tool to bring UserTracks to life.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Very good idea and with the resolution of the problems related to usertrack it would be great.

You could get this to work good if the unresolved issues with usertracks are fixed, but would this then be competition for RealTracks sales ? or would it bring more sales of Biab ????
With the PG templates you need Biab or need to read the pdf chords.
I could make up some that also have midi files that contain chord name markers and midi chord notes as well, these will then load into most DAWs to give the chord track,
mp3 tracks could also be included for the musician to play along to.
These can be a sticky post in the UserTracks forum.
You can contact session players suggesting this or put some post in the online collaboration/session musicians forums.
The musicians can upload a sample usertrack and work on donations or so many crowd donations to create a usertrack ???

Pipeline,
I do not believe that good quality UserTracks would pose any threat or competition to RealTracks.
Contrary, it should in fact bring more people into the pool.
Look at NI + their branded libraries and all 3rd party instruments made for Kontakt, etc. I think that is a very good example how 3rd party content works for the benefit of the NI and for musicians who use it.

I believe PG tries to find middle ground for the current users and their RT releases are balanced, but many styles and instruments simply not there. Would I buy a few sets of UserTracks to accompany styles I want to try? Sure! Would I still upgrade BIAB with new RTs - absolutely.

You are one of the biggest contributors to this forum / community and your tech knowledge is far above average user. I watched your videos on ReaTrak and it is a huge step forward to bring UserTracks to life.

I can make up some templates for musicians to download right now, but I think it would be better if PG fixed the issues first before going ahead with the idea.
It's all coming back to me now why ReaTrak came about after looking at
Plenty of issues & shortcomings still to fix (for staff & others interested) ( 1 2 3 4 all ) 15971 views

We need a Beta Development forum for the UserTrack Features.

It appears PGM has little interest in this feature. And that is what is upsetting about this amazing and wonderful product. A revolutionary new idea poorly implemented and apparently abandoned. Seems it was just mostly marketing hype at this point.

PGM, please prove me wrong and announce that you are working to fix this and support it going forward!

EDIT: So, +1 to the OP's idea but as Pipeline says there are lots of things PGM must fix before that could ever become a reality.

I always intended to create one of my flugelhorn playing, but I stopped when I could not find or construct a song to record over that would contain all the necessary chords for the genre I am best at (Brazilian jazz). Perhaps no other genre has more complex upper extensions that pass by quickly. I’m still interested in a way forward (before my skills erode with age).

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
