Last year when BIAB 2019 rolled out, there was an indication that Coyote Forte Dxi would have a 64-bit version forthcoming. I know PGMusic has a relationship with Coyote Electronics, as they were able to get a 64-bit version of the the Coyote WT.

Will there actually be an update, or should I just move along?

Still waiting a year later...

Hi John,

I purchased the Forte many years ago. Its still my favourite general midi synth. Lately, its been asking for my serial number, which I have put in many times, but it doesn't seem to recognize it. It still works, but keeps asking for serial number. Their website doesn't seem to have been updated for about 12 years. It would be great to get a 64 bit version, meanwhile I render my wav's in the 32bit, and then transfer them over to Reaper.

john these are good questions it seems its getting harder and harder to find a SIMPLE synth to play midi here and in RB. everyone has a favorite but they all take a lot of work to properly function. personally I like TTS but hey while it works in BiaB it requires jbridge to function in RB I bought Jbridge once but lost it on a computer crash. guess I have to buy it again.

jford; Yes I would like to have 64bit, I use Forte in RealBand and would like to have compatibility between all my apps.

the-blooze; I had that serial number problem a couple of years ago, I had to re-enter every 3 or 4 weeks for about 18 months. Partway through this time I contacted Tech Support who suggested Run as Administrator, but that didn't work. Eventually the problem went away and I assumed it had been quietly fixed by PGM in one of the Update Builds.

Rob Helms; There is a 32bit version of TTS, I use it in Realband alongside Forte.
Some years ago Music Creator 7 was going cheap so I bought it purely for the softsynth.
I'm sure somebody here has more up to date knowledge of how to get it.

I have and use TTS-1 (both 32-bit and 64-bit), but there are some sounds that I like better in the Forte. Ultimately, I will most likely change over to instruments in Kontakt or Halion or Sampletank, or some dedicated VSTi, but for quick song creation, I like having a decent GM synth. I also use Halion Sonic in GM mode, but I have to remember to move the USB dongle if I'm working between my laptop and desktop.

I have hail on sonic on my computer but don’t have a GM set for it. I know somewhere I have cake music creator with 32 bit tts. So frustrating. Once you get something set up something else changes. I had SampleTank 2.5 working flawlessly, and along comes BiaB with a lite version that installed and I had to start from scratch with my SampleTank setup. Finally got it right and had to switch computers. I remember buying forte DXi but that was a couple computers ago. Now I can’t find any record of it.

If you have 32-bit TTS-1 from Cakewalk Music Creator, you should be able to also install the 64-bit version (MC has a checkbox to select either or both 32- and 64-bit) so you would then have both the 32-bit and the 64-bit TTS-1 (or just download the Cakewalk by Bandlab program to get the 64-bit TTS-1).

I'm confused about your need for a 64-bit Forte? If, as you allude, you are just sketching out a tune, making a fast backing track set or practice set why does it have to be in 64-BIAB? Just use 32-bit BIAB when calling up a GM project and if you ARE using GM then you aren't needing the tired excuse that you need a large VSTi memory so you can have your 2 TB American Indian Flute sample or a 16 TB, 64-velocity levels sampled Bösendorfer.

HOWEVER, I fully agree it would be nice if PG could reach out to some vendors and come up with BOTH a 32 and 64 bit GM solution of some kind. Like Roland for their currently WAY over priced sound canvas VA; and/or Forte as you mentioned; or Bandlab to get a 32 AND 64 bit TTS-1 for sale, Band Lab has the DXi installer and they OWN the 32 bit version as well as the 64 bit one and If I can make both TTS-1 versions work with a simple rename, they can make it work with a modified installer and modified .dat file. Or reach out to IK or NI or Steinberg or UVI or ... isn't there a Canadian co. with a clever solution or one that can solve this? (and I'm a 100% Red White and Blue 'merican).

Of course PG could always try to partner with some clever HW folks and develop an external GM2/GS/XG ASIC (protects the IP sample libraries) on a USB stick.

Sadly, that probably won't happen: "RT fever" has taken over BIAB. I like RT's but still use a ton of MIDI because I have a TON of gear and a lot of VSTi and other MIDI libraries and becasue they cover way more ground. Again RT's are nice but represent a very thin horizontal slice of all possible instruments when compared against even a modest ROMPler, let alone true analog, digital, and hybrid synths.

After reading that a 64-bit version was forthcoming, I wrote to the email address on their web page provided but never successfully received a reply.

There's been no further word about any updates at all to my knowledge.

Larry, it's not "need" per se (as there are other options), but more desire. Some of my older files used Forte and of course sound different with another GM synth, and as you oftensay, for other reasons I won't go into here. Also the fact that (although it was some time ago) I actually laid down money to purchase Forte. And the fact the it was mentioned by PG staff that a 64-bit version was forthcoming.

But if it's not forthcoming, just say so and I'll move along.

Rob,

Cakewalk by BandLab includes an add-on download of TTS-1. Since it is a 64 bit program the TTS-1 add-on is also 64 bit. You have to create a free BandLab account to use Cakewalk by BandLab. The DAW installation and activation is managed by an installation manager called BandLab Assistant. You can find out more +++ HERE +++

My understanding is there is a record made when you purchase jBridge so either PG Music (if you bought it through PG Music), Jay or both have the purchase record. All you need to do is talk to PG Music Sales or send an email to Jay explaining your predicament. +++ jBridge for Windows +++

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
