I don't understand what PGM is talking about with changing a recorded legato song to a fixed tempo. Legato has nothing to do with tempo, it merely means "smooth." Are they talking about "rubato" which literally means "robbed" and is where the performer plays a bit faster and a bit slower at times so the tempo varies? If so, they should use the correct term. It's possible to have varied tempos in a staccato song, as long as it's played rubato. Will that new feature not work on staccato songs which are played at an uneven tempo?

My take on what PG Music is meaning is that unless a musician is playing with a click track or metronome, it's more than likely that the recording will be give and take in the tempo department and not kept strictly to time. It's not really rubato nor ad lib as both of those are much more obvious than small tempo variations that can result in some performances.

It's in this sense that timing can be unified using this new addition to BIAB.

Regards,
Noel

Hi Vicente,

J-Bridge, sold by PG Music for $10 and if it is installed, should provide the bridge to allow 32-bit plugins to run in BIAB 64-bit. Alternatively, you could simply start BIAB 32-bit and use that with the 32-bit plugins.

The below site explains how jbridge allows 32bit VST plugins to run in a 64-bit environment.

Hope this helps,
Noel

Hi Wendy,

Before the clock runs out, even though your next post sounded like you'll (probably?) be buying 2020 anyway, could you list your top three to five "niggles?"

I'm sure you'll get many honest detailed answers but in fairness we need the question(s). (unless you're thinking the folks here are Carnac the Magnificent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRTtLvKAKgk grin )

That will really give focus to areas of primary concern, beyond the generic and fairly large "arranger" category.

Not sure about Wendy's "niggles" but you can spend all day (and prolly a lot more) reading about all of our "niggles" right here,

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=1&page=1

and here

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=9&page=1

You'll find a lot more than three to five things that need fixing and have been around awhile!

Larry raises good points. To assess your needs we should know more about what you mean. I’m an arranger and I only know what that means to me. There are all levels of arranging.

Yes, that was a typo, it should read "rubato" smile

Edit:
Actually a more accurate description is:

If you have an audio file that wasn't recorded at a fixed tempo, you can change so that the tempo of the audio is all the same. We call this an 'equalization' of the tempos.

https://www.pgmusic.com/manuals/bbw2020upgrade/chapter3.htm#equalize-audio-tempo

This is pretty powerful feature of the Audio Chord Wizard, AND is very easy to use - in the Audio Edit window, just click [Equalize Temp] button and enter the tempo of your song. So now BB doesn't need to make a complex tempo map throughout the song.

Hi Noel96,

I've been used jbridge on BIAB2018(32bit) to load the VTS Plug-ins 64bit.
As you said in your post, If I run BIAB 2019/2020 64bit, I must use jbridge to load the 32bit VTS plug-ins ?
The 64bit BIAB App. won't load 32bit VTS. What a pain!

Most if not all 64 bit programs will not load 32 bit VSTs. My old Sonar and my current DAW, Studio One Pro, will not load them either. You have jBridge.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
