Here is another Christmas song I'd like to share ... A story about the year when there was no Christmas... Its different from my usual country songs... And I hope you enjoy it. ______________________
Well there won't be no Christmas this year No there won't be no Christmas this year Santa got mugged by the LA cops Twenty of them really roughed him up So there won't be no Christmas this year
He was stopped somewhere they say in East LA Both tail lights were out on his sleigh They say his horses were so dead stoned It must have been the junk that he kept them on They had mutated ears and they thought they could fly away
Well I saw the tape some one made of the incident But unnecessary force wasn't evident When he was brought down by the one who made the stop He moved his head so they wised him up Until he resisted no more on the cold cement
So there won't be no Christmas this year No there won't be no Christmas this year Santa and his gang are now in jail Since they ain't crooked no one pays their bail And there won't be no Christmas this year ______________________ Tech Info: NoCmas.MGU BLANK2.STY Only bass & some drums remain... The rest was scored with Music Printer Plus (Temporal Acuity Products) _______________________
Dystopian Christmas - sounds like an Australian Mob - The Beasts of Bourbon. Very good fun and lots going on. My hearing suggests there's more treble happening on the left. Your vocals are the stand out feature - cooool.
Cheers rayc "What's so funny about peace, love & understanding?" - N.Lowe
That was really something completely different Not just from you but on the forum. Really made me smile, good to have some humorous Christmas tune for a while. Enjoyable heavy rock instrumentation and your vocal fits like beard on Santa. Thanks Jim for your Holiday surprise!
Jim, Thank you for surprising me with that Christmas gut punch!! Really good/bad attitude comes through on the vocals and the lyrics are the best darkly funny Christmas song I`ve heard in a long time. Way to go for letting us hear this side of your music.
I don't know where to begin, because everything about this song is so incredibly good.
I'm not that much into Christmas songs, I must admit, but I must agree with Floyd: I'd really like to hear more of that style !
What an intro - I simply wouldn't trust my ears and had to make sure I had not accidentally clicked another song - BRILLIANT !
The lyrics are amazing - yes, funny at first sight, even very funny. But I'm more than sure that this is a bitter parabel on incidents that sadly enough happen to be real. And if that is so, I think there's far mor Christian expressiveness in your lines than in most of those Christmas tunes that are tootling in the malls this time of the year.
And BTW, it is exactly the way I love serious issues to be approached - it's 'Hats off' simply for those lyrics.
Your Vocal is just perfect for that song, the arrangement si stunning !
Jim, old cowboy that I thought you were: If I may utter a request: Please write and perform more, many more songs of that genre - you're simply too good in that to deny us the fruits of that talent.
You see: I'm stunned, excited and mostz impressed by this one.
Thanks for posting that gem. Oh yes: I really enjoud that really corresponding vide - nice job on this one, too!
Take care,
Stefan
PS: Of course I couldn't help remebering one of my favorite Arlo Guthrie tunes which was very funny, too, but also transported a cause:
TuneMonger LMAO, funniest thing I've heard in a long time!! Great work, this should be in rotation on any radio station that plays all-Christmas. Way to go!
Thanks Bob Where can we find that station ? Still your comments & support are always appreciated.

Thanks Ray Dystopian Christmas … A good song title… But I think its been done…
I checked out The Beasts of Bourbon… Pretty cool… Maybe someday I’ll steal from them …
Thanks again… Your comments & support are always appreciated.
BTW… About the treble... You may be correct... I can’t hear out of my right ear right now… Everything seems to be mono in my left ear .
This is the surprise packet of the season - Big Bad Jim getting down and dirty, turning Christmas music on its head. Jim, this is inspired. Your voice, the riff, the sound and arrangement just work together to make a great song. Loved the vid too. Thanks for sharing this and brightening our Christmas. Scary Christmas , Mike
Jim, this is awesome!!! I was expecting something different for sure coming from you...perhaps something with a country flavor! If this a had a couple of distorted guitars in it, it would be an Alice Cooper tune...yes you heard right Alice Cooper!! That is a compliment btw! It's strangely beautiful and something that just leads you on...hard to turn away from! Thoroughly enjoyed by me...great to hear something in a different genre from you! Thanks, Torrey
jannesan That was really something completely different Not just from you but on the forum. Really made me smile, good to have some humorous Christmas tune for a while. Enjoyable heavy rock instrumentation and your vocal fits like beard on Santa. Thanks Jim for your Holiday surprise! Janne
Thanks Janne I am overwhelmed by your wonderful comments… And your continued comments & support for me & other songwriters... I'm happy you considered it a "Holiday surprise".
Man, talk about pushing the sides of the envelope!!
This is so different from what I'm used to hearing from you, I had no idea you had a rock side!
Love that riff, drums are cool too, great vocal!
I love this, well done!
Had to quote Dave on this. Nail on the head.
This is AWESOME!
This is ONE song I wouldn't mind hearing many Christmases in a row...
Truly Original.
fj
Thanks Floyd For your tremendous comments on this song... As well as for all the support & comments you've given me this year! Merry Christmas to you & your family.
Jim, Poor Santa... This is the fun, dark side of you talking! Very cool arrangement. Intro is a killer. I think it is a continuation of the tune you posted a few month back, with ticking clock. It would be a nice soundtrack for a PG13/R cartoon Enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing!
I must have missed this 'Christmas song' of you. As some others already said, something totally different from what I used to hear from you. But very, very well done. The organ with with that penetrating sound and your way of singing the song makes it very exciting to listen to. I more than agree with all the compliments of the others here. You did a very good job with this one. Thank God in Europe we have our own Santa. We can still celebrate Christmas! But your lyrics were very funny. I could see these deers in front of me, dead stoned and thinking they could fly with their carved ears. A very nice find.

Robert
Thanks Robert... I'm touched by your incredibly kind words & support... I guess you know you’ve made my day a lot brighter... And I am pleased you like the song!
Jim Excellent work - quite a different Christmas feel! Clever and entertaining. Peter
Thanks Peter... I happy you found it "Clever and entertaining"... I did have fun putting it all together... And its always nice when others, like you, enjoy it!

Thanks Stefan... All of your wonderful comments tend to make me blush ... And your insights about the reality behind the story is quite right on... I certainly am thankful a songwriter with your talents can appreciate my endeavors.

Thanks Mike... "Big Bad Jim" ... I love it!
I'm happy one of my tunes was able to brighten your Christmas!
When I started playing, I blinked and doubled checked that I was listening to one of your songs. My eyes confirmed that I had the right person but my brain is still in denial!
This is what has been described to me as "thinking outside of the (Band In A) box". I'm on holidays right now but if I was in teacher mode still, this would be worth an easy, easy...
Creativity shines as bright as the noon-time summer sun! You've really outdone yourself with this little gem.

Thanks Torry... Alice Cooper... That's quite a compliment... If I could play guitar as well as you... I might added some "distorted guitars" to the tune

Thanks Misha... For your cool comments & support.
That cartoon may be a good idea... At least something to think about!

Merry Christmas, Jim! Hans
Thanks Hans... I glad you enjoyed it... But I hope I don't disappoint you... If I go back to writing those "cry in your beer" country songs

Truly inspiring on s-o-o-o-o-o-o many levels!
All the best, Noel
Thanks Noel… For your listen & glowing comments. You can really make a songwriter blush .
...and a most Merry X-mas to you though it may seem a bit gloomy if Santa is held up by the cops for long ?
this is certainly a most interesting piece of music I´d say !!
Keep on rockin´ !
Cheers Dani
Thanks Dani... For your continued comments & support... I guess could add extra verses... About how Santa escaped from jail... Got his reindeer out... And finally delivered those presents A song with a happy ending?
Jim, this is one Christmas song I want to hear every year! Excellent write, vocals and outstanding backing tracks and lyrics.
PS My feet were tapping and my head was laughing. Hard to beat that combination!
Thanks Mario... For your listen, comments, & support... It tickles me to know your feet were tapping & you head was laughing... And you liked it well enough to want to hear it again next year I only wish there was an easy way to find the old Christmas songs each year... So we could listen to them!
First the mix, then the riff and then the theme it all keeps one interested in an alternative Xmas Song that would send kids into tears.
Very clever all round. Really well thought out and created. Brilliant!!!
Tony
Thanks Tony... For taking the time to listen... And make all of those kind comments... I really appreciate it! Here's hoping you had a Merry Christmas!
