I used RD blues shuffle hard, 420 bass and 421 guitar. I have used 421 more than any RT, just a great track by Jack Pearson. I wrote the song, sang it (rare for me), played the harp part and played the guitar solo. I used Amplitube for the solo. Nothing great but it's Christmas. Thanks to all who made me so welcome in this my first year on the Showcase Forum. What a great time I've had.

I saw my baby with another man on Christmas Day,
Yeah, I saw my baby with another man on Christmas Day
I bought her all these presents, it took every bit of my pay

I saw her go down, down to 14th and Park
Yeah, I saw her go down, down to 14th and Park
She stayed out all day, She didn't come home after dark

I hope my baby comes home by New Year's Day,
Yeah, I hope my baby comes home by New Year's Day,
If she ain't home by New Year's, I'm gonna be crying til May

It's a good bluesy shuffle.
the harmonica and guitar parts fit really well though the harmonica is a little loud - may benefit from some reverb and the guitar could use some heavier compression to even out the levels.
Your vocal is cool but a fair bit sibilant which can be managed.
It's a fun song.

Cheers

Yeah! My favorite from you so far.

Good "blues" vocal, harp is right on the money, guitar not bad too.

Levels are a little off as Ray mentioned, but that's an easy fix.

Enjoyed!

Excellent Christmas Blues song.

Nice use of the BAND. I agree that the guitar solo could use a slight "taming".

You vocal is nice! (also agree that the sibilance should be addressed). Keep singing!!

Enjoyed this. A bunch.

Good recording. Great use of BIAB. Loved the harmonica and electric guitar parts. They fit it well with the entire mix. Good vocals. Fun song.

Great to hear your harp again and your guitar solo also.
Busy moving along with that excellent shuffle beat I missed some of the lyrics- please post them.
No reason to look for another vocalist- yours sound good and comfortable!

nice song - im curious as to what you are using on vocals (comp, reverb etc?)
your vocals are fine, but they need some small fixes with a couple of plugins to be great.
I would be glad to take a look if you would like me too have dropbox.
good job either way :-)

Nicely done - I really liked the shuffling groove on this, and the vocals really help carry it along nicely too. It flows smoothly and got my toe tapping from the get go.

Thanks for sharing smile

Hi TuneMonger,

I think I said it before: There's nothing like a good old blues shuffle.

And this one is a really classic one - a terrific pleasure to listen to !!!

Loved the harmonica and also the guitar solo, but I think you shouldn't hide your vocal abilities. Your singing really fits this genre perfectly.

And if you'de be coming up with one blues after another: I really wouldn't mind.

Great tune !

Cheers,

Stefan

Cool blues tune. Raw and matter of fact. Loved it. Harp was cool. Nice touch with the guitar

Well, we listen daily to the blues and when it's a shuffle it's immediately right in our wheelhouse!

And, yep, hard to go wrong with Jack Pearson. His playing on the new jazz tribute to the Allman Brothers is great.

We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this...our only nit is that it was too short!

Hey, your vocal has the edge and soul for this...don't keep it "rare" any longer.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. I am trying to learn how to get sibilance and similar problems out of vocals, but I'm just not figuring it out. It may take a long time - one day it clicks and then I'm good. But for the time being my vocals will always have flaws, even when I hire singers. I need to buy some equipment as well, I only use headphones at the moment. But thanks for the encouragement on all fronts, it's greatly appreciated. And I listen to all criticism, thanks for that as well!

Hi Tunemonger
Found this a little raw and ragged.
Made me smile.
Isn't that what the blues is supposed to do?
Good one.
Richard.

I like this. Christmas blues could become a new genre.
I enjoyed your harp and guitar work. I too think the Jack Pearson tracks are great. I used RT422 (blues solo) on my recent Lazy Dayz song.
Cheers,
Mike
