I am getting a dialog box that says it cannot load Hi-Q patch and that BIAB instruments may not be installed. But I installed them and they show up in /Library/Application Support/PG Music Inc/Band-in-the-Box Sounds. Not sure what else to do at this point (I also installed the plugins)
Although this has been answered by @Andrew - PG Music, I wanted to add my experience as a beginner with BIAB. It sounds we may have had the same experience, or perhaps not but I'll describe mine. I tried to add instruments using the dialog box for selecting a midi-instrument. I would select "Select Hi-Q Midi Patch Plugin" from the top of the menu and try to add one of the Sforzando based instruments there, and never worked quite right, but when following the method shown by Andrew, it works perfectly every time.
Here's another tip - if you find yourself using specific instruments with settings in Sforzando, or other VST plugins, it's worth checking out the options to save your settings, which may be in the plugin itself (Snapshot for Sforzando), or you can use the Save Preset and Save Group (and load) options in the VST dialog box. The VST's vary widely in how you can save your settings but usually these are of some benefit and save time. I keep my settings in a dedicated folder with names to describe the instrument and settings.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
