Just downloaded and installed the software from IK as a freebie but can't work out how to use it as a plugin - the manual simply says consult your DAW instructions.

Can I get it to run as a plugin n RB? I expected to find a dll file as per normal but no suck luck.

If I can't use it i'll uninstall as I was really only trying it to see what extra flexibility it gave me on final mixes

don't think i'll bother - to get anything other than eq i need to pay for extra bits from IK so this is just a come on as freebie to get you to buy expensive extras.

i do have amplitube from IK which works fine with the limited presets and bits i got from PG Music but this is just a cynical marketing ploy

Bob, even if you purchase on T-Rack effect it will list all of the available to buy effects in your DAW. I think this stinks! IK does the same thing with Amplitube 4.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Huh?

First I am NOT defending IK - but I don't understand the issue, let alone the hate, here?

I have the Black, White and everything else (I have all IK "stuff" and I do mean everything except Brian May) and I use T-Racks 5, not exclusively I do use dozens of other company's plug-ins. But back on topic: Do you mean if you use the free Black compressor, like it or not is another discussion, that it pops-up ads that implore you to buy tape delays, parametric EQ's, other FX while the compressor is in use (akin to Youtube ads in middle of "We the Internet" video?)

Or do you mean that the T-racks GUI (like the Amplitube and Sampletank 3 (not 4) GUI) lists not only FX installed but everything IK sells for that application, in this case T-racks? In that case, and this is just a FWIW, those FX can ALSO be TRIED (i.e., test driven) for free for a few days up to two weeks in the case of T-racks FX, as well as bought outright. So for the trade-off of being able to test drive plug-ins you are "forced" to see them also listed for sale. In that case, it would be nice if others did that like NI, UVI, Steinberg, Spectrasonics, Toontrack, AAS, Presonus, Avid, E-W, Roland, Korg, Yamaha,...(i.e., test drive for a while at "cost" of a little sales push)

Or is something else going on with this free Black 76 Compressor giveaway? this is first time I remember IK giving any of these FX away so they may well have done it very badly - I just can't test the issue (without re-configuring everything) to see what issue is

It takes 5 minutes to edit the preset folder in Amplitube.I got the free rack and an eq for it free quite a while back.

I could be wrong, but this may be the difference between having the full version of any of the IK products installed, or the "custom shop" version of the product installed (which does provide the opportunity to buy more stuff).

May be, I was just trying to understand issue with the freebie. If it pops-up ads in middle of work then yes bad on IK, if not then ???

I didn't persevere with the program but all i was able to see in the standalone version was the eq module, and not the compressor. maybe i should have played around more but everything i pressed asked me to buy something.

and the words 'custom shop' was in evidence so it wasn't really a freebie compressor

Copy but hmmmm. Probably because I have full T-Racks5 and Amplitube 4 apps?

I have nothing left to test drive in T-Racks but I can still test drive the "Brian May" collection (for 72 hours) in AmpliTube 4. Although I won't be buying it until I can get it almost free. With AXE FX III I can route DAW guitars to it real-time and it already has outstanding AC-30 model(s) and I already have multiple Brian May presets and scenes.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
