Please lend a thought for the unfortunate people in New South Wales, Australia, who have lost their homes in the tragic bushfires.

Over 800 homes have been lost, and a number of lives, including two volunteers firies. (vounteer firefighters)l

More that 5 million acres (that's not an exaggeration) of bushland has been destroyed and it's going to get worse.

We've lost a host of native birds & animals.
And it's not only our state, all of Australia is on fire.

If you're that way inclined, please offer a prayer for the firies and the victims, and pray for rain.

If you'd like to know more, google NSW bushfires.
Thank you.

Cheers,
Keith

Some of these fires have been raging since early October. Areas such as the Gold Coast where I’m at usually very clear have been blanketed in smoke for days on end for two months now.

We do think of those affected.

They say Gold Coast weather is ideal one day and perfect the next. Expecting a shower or two Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. 27C to 29C yep it should be good. We badly need rain however (as does most of the East Coast).

Sending positive thoughts to all affected.

And yes, most of Australia (the driest continent on Earth) needs rain. Moreover, plenty of it.

It was 44 degrees (111 degrees F) here on Friday, there were several days above 40C / 100F this week, and it's only the first month of summer. Those temperatures don't normally happen at this location. Records are being broken. That's a real concern.

Send rain.

I spent five weeks in Australia in 2018, mostly in a small hi-top camper van. From Brisbane to Cape Trib to Darwin down the Stewart to Kangaroo Island and across the bottom to Sydney with many delightful stops along the way.

My heart breaks for all that is being taken away from what I found to be some of the most civilized and delightful people on the planet.

It's bad enough that the major American networks are actually covering the fires on their nightly news broadcasts. The whole continent has to literally be on fire for that to happen. I heard US hotshots (firefighters) are going down under to join the fight. It's a dangerous job. The excessive temperatures can kill you so please stay out of the heat as much as you can!

Yes Jim, US firefighters have been here to help, as well as Canadians and New Zealanders. We have two types of firefighters - paid firemen and women, and the RFS (Rural Fire Service) who are volunteers. They don't get paid and have to take time off from their Monday to Friday jobs in order to help.

I don't want to get political, but they should be receiving payment for the hard work and countless hours that they give freely. Most of them will miss Christmas with their families.

Not fair.

Definitely in my thoughts. I'm flying to NZ to see my son over Xmas, but he normally works in rural NSW and QLD. He's a carpenter and builds massive water tanks for a living. Mainly doing concreting structures. Brisbane seems to be doing ok.

Keith, if you are near the fire zones, make sure your car is loaded and you are ready to take off at a moment's notice. Don't wait until it's too late.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
