Must Have's in Realband 2020 are as follows:

1. Be able to use meter map and tempo map the same way as in BIAB, cause I write lots of songs that use different time signatures and tempos....also be able to slow a part down for a few bars say 152 to 70 tempo then go back to the main tempo of 152 as an example. BIAB does this very well....

2. Generate a Real track solo that doesn't sound phony meaning today it sounds like little blocks of solo parts and doesn't flow like a real soloist would do.

3. When using different Time signatures in different parts of the song, the drum track or Real Track should be able to follow the meter map like going from 3/4 time to 4/4 or 2/4 time.

4. Realband should be a 64 bit program like BIAB....I don't know anyone who doesn't have a 64 bit computer nowadays....processing time would be cut way down.

5. The many styles should also be able to follow the Meter and Tempo map so you can use a style you like for any song. It's like being able to use a band or Style you like to play many different songs.

6. Separate BIAB and RealBand into two different programs and let the users decide which one they want to buy.

Let's start with that let other users add a wish list to make Realband the best Recording software on the market.

Oh I almost forgot....Audio Chord wizard sucks in Realband....I've never been able to use it in a real song I was working with without being totally frustrated and pissed off. I've tried using it and have given up every time. Even in BIAB it dosen't work with songs in different time signatures and tempos.

Man I feel your pain, and agree. Expect several people to stop by and hammer you for even thinking RB could get better. They will try to tell you it is a waste of time, forget it and use something else. I personally feel it could be great with a little bit of work. The tempo thing would be awesome if completed. As far as solos I never got it to work super smoothly. One work around I use is Melodyne I just take some of the notes and drag them longer to fill some of the tap where the “blocks” seem most obvious.

RB needs badly a cleaner face. Eliminate the aux and channel strips in the mixer view. Let the amount of tracks used in track view decide how many show. Let the user decide how many busses are open.

In the tracks view ghost the lines.

As far as separating I can’t see that happen as the track generating is deeply tied inside BiaB, but who knows. I used to use RB exclusively but is was to heavy on my system and would fight me sometimes. If it was given some proper attention I feel it could be unbelievable. The sad thing is it does not get the love it needs from development or the forum so I had to move on to a Stable DAW. Others have championed the cause but little has changed, so I use Studio one, and create with in it using the BiaB plugin. Now there is another story unfolding.

A few of things (not all inclusive) come to mind for me.

1. Obviously, 64-bit processing.
2. Full support for plugins like Melodyne and JamStix.
3. I would love to see a "mute/unmute all tracks" button.
4. I really don't see the need anymore for the icon row at the bottom of the screen (see image below) for each display window, since they are accessible from the top line toolbar and the menu anyway. Takes a lot of real estate, and usually end up hidden or in weird places on the screen when you resize.
5. A number of VSTi plugins (Kontakt Session Brass Pro comes to mind, especially when trying to generate programmed brass riffs) do not render to audio properly. They playback fine through the VSTi when listening, but when rendering (either to an audio track or a file), you often end up with a lot of drop outs. Other DAWs handle them fine.
6. Tracks should be additive. We don't need to see all 48 all the time. If I only need three or four tracks, I should only see three or four tracks.
7. Scan for VST/VSTi's and present in a list (by specifying which folders to look in). Then allow drag and drop from the list to the track and let RealBand manage the slots. If adding the same plugin twice, it could just ask if you want to use existing or create a new instance.

I'll add more later.
