Another blues song. One night at a jam, Doug Wolfe (one of the guitar players) came in with a list of blues songs he compiled from the Internet. I tried putting them into some sort of story, but... Anyway, I gave him half copyright credit, and this is what we came up with. Thanks for your encouragement and guidance. How Many Blues on SoundCloud How Many Blues on YouTube How Many Blues (can one man use)lyrics written ("compiled" as he says) by Doug Wolfe I got the Statesboro Blues, and the Come & Go Blues. I got them Travelin' Blues, and old Walkin' Blues. When I get to St. Louie, I'll share their blues with the ones I bring called the Kansas City Blues. Tell me, N I got them Country Blues, and the Mississippi Delta Blues. Got those West Coast Blues, and Chicago Blues, too. I'm just a man whose shoes got them Travelin' Blues. Tell me how many blues? N BR: Tomorrow you might be Rockin' Me, Mama, or you might be On The Road Again messin' around with my Pride & Joy. But I'll still be countin'. My blues still a-mountin'. SOLO I'm the 7th Son Of A Seventh Son, and I can Give Eyesight To The Blind. I'm a King Bee, baby. Just Shake Your Money Maker that soft and round behind. You might find yourself Preachin' The Blues. That's fine with me, but tell me how many blues. Tell me N Black Magic Woman, Give Me Back My Wig. How Many More Years will you be Messin' With The Kid? We're Rollin' & Tumblin' with The Black Snake Moan, but The Sky Is Cryin' All Alone. Please Don't Go; just tell me how many blues. BR: I got the 3 O'Clock Blues, and I'm In The Mood, but The Little Red Rooster crowed. The Thrill Is Gone, So Dust My Broom. I'll Be Your Back Door Man, cuz I Can't Be Satisfied. SOLO Further On Up The Road I Can't Quit You, Baby. Reconsider, Baby. Don't give me The Worried Life Blues. If Trouble Was Money, you'd give me them Stormy Monday blues. But tell me, honey, how many blues. Just N I'll see you at the Red House down by The Crossroads. How long will I have The How Long Blues? Cuz N N RealTracks in style: 420:Bass, Electric, Blues Sw 120 {actually I did the bass, but I'll keep the number}RealTracks in style: ~425:Organ, B3, Background Blues Sw 120 RealTracks in style: 421:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Blues Sw 120 RealTracks in style: ~585:Guitar, Resophonic, Rhythm Blues Muddy Sw 120 RealTracks in song: 2676:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm BluesShuffleBrent Sw 130 RealTracks in song: ~383:Guitar, Slide, Soloist Blues Sw 120 RealDrums [in style:BluesShuffleHard^1-a:Snare, HiHat , b:Ride

Nice idea for a lyric. I did something similar with Beach Boys stuff. The "band" is tidy and does its job well. The vocal is really cool too - though what ever reverb/delay you are using is picking up the sibilant esses BIG time. What DAW are you working in? Addressing those sounds without dulling the whole vocla is pretty easy, though time consuming, inside a decent DAW.

I use a de-esser, but I always seem to fight it by adding more treble or something. I should seek out the more "time consuming" method --especially if the voice doesn't lose its air. Thanks again, man. That's just the kind of feedback I need. marty

Marty, A fun idea for a song. Having listen to limited Blues, most of the references are over my head (is that because I'm so low? ) BAND is good! Vocal, too - and sits nicely. I agree with what ray said: Nice idea for a lyric. You might try some of the suggestions in the "de-esser thread" that Mario started in the Off-Topics. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=579891&page=1Try the method that I outlined (the one with pictures) - Iwould guess there is a way to do that in Cakewalk... A fun listen... fj

Wow, thanks for that, Floyd. Of course, now I have a lot of remixing to do, but, hey, improvement is a goal with many hardships. hehe

Hey Marty,
Cool idea for a song! I like the way you constructed the verses, my favorite:
"Black Magic Woman, Give Me Back My Wig. How Many More Years will you be Messin' With The Kid?"
Excellent vocal, you have a good "blues" voice.
Track sounds good, except for the sibilance already mentioned, and you already have some good suggestions about that.
Very much enjoyed, keep them coming!

The De-esser video Noel posted has a secret & most effective weapon. It's from the 91/2 minute point. It's a little time intensive BUT the results beat all other comers as a) it doesn't remove the "air or shine" from the entire vocal and b) after a couple of goes can be done VERY quickly - & visually as well. HIGHLY recommended.
