Is it possible to play by using the BIAB from the MIDI files (.mid) single note melodies (e.g. bass melody) with RealTrack instrument sounds (hearing e.g. real acoustic bass sound) – i.e. using the sounds recorded from the real instruments?
I think it is maybe possible by importing wanted Melody from MIDI file or importing to Soloist part from MIDI file and then choosing for Melody/Soloist track suitable RealTrack instrument (real acoustic bass sound)? Does it works?

RealTracks are prerecorded audio phrases and as such, do not respond to MIDI data.

And while a number of RealTracks have RealChart notation, it's merely to represent what's being played and for reference and learning. Changing any of those notes does not change what the RealTrack is playing.

You can, of course, use RealCharts data to assign a MIDI bass instrument, but it won't sound the same because while it captures the note information, it doesn't capture the nuances of the original live performance of the RealTrack.

No that will not work. Realtracks (RTs)are audio files and can not be manipulated by MIDI. You can regenerate RTs and get multiple versions of said RT but you can not change the RT via MIDI.

You can use your MIDI track with virtually any VSTi instrument. There are many really good sounding bass VSTIs for you to choose, ranging from free to quite expensive.

Good luck.

PS - I see that John and I were typing at the same time!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I'm not sure how feasible and practicable you will find it but I think it can be done. RealTrack Bass audio can be sampled and a Sforzando midi patch can be made using the audio samples where using two tracks of the mixer, can combine Sforzando programmed Midi riffs with RealTrack audio and the two file mix exported into a Stereo Audio render that could be imported back into your BIAB project, converted to a Performance Track and replace the original Bass Track in the Mixer and there should be no distinction between the RealTrack sampled midi and the RealTrack.

It's likely you can also find existing midi or Supermidi bass patches that sound close enough to an existing RealTrack Bass audio to bypass the Sforzando sample patch part of the scenario detailed above.

As Mario stated, "There are many really good sounding bass VSTIs for you to choose, ranging from free to quite expensive." That would also be my recommendation unless you're up for the Sforzando programming adventure.

For a single track for one song, Fiverr may be the right ticket.

No, it is not possible at all. The reason is because the real tracks are actual recordings of real instruments played by real musicians to give you real performances with your backing tracks or songs. PG music does have a built in sample library that uses the sforzando formate but I highly suggest that you purchase high quality sample libraries and know how to voice them correctly with a keyboard or midi guitar. Since you want to use a bass, I recommend you check out Orangetree samples. I have their Jaco fretless bass sample and it sounds great.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
