Hi all,
Here's a french ballad sung by Christian Braut

https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/tout-au-fond-de-ma-boite-a-chansons

Here's an approximate translation :

By opening my song box
I heard this melody
She was there hidden deep inside
Waiting to come out of her nest
I took her with me like a nugget
To offer her the case she deserves

I immediately put on her notes
Some chords that create harmony
And then while I was whistling this tune
Instruments came to keep her company

I asked a friend
To sing her if he wanted to
And here she is in front of you today
It's like a dream coming to life
My little melody is a nightingale
Who takes flight towards his destiny

Chris,

I like this very much—your usual great musical production, very sweet sounding. The vocal is equally good, very nuanced and emotional delivery, but perhaps from a mix standpoint a bit too forward in the mix? Maybe—see what others think on that point. But enjoyed my listen—really good song!

My best to you,

Deej

I've listened to many of your songs on here and been impressed by them all. I like the imagery in this, the words were wonderful. The slow staccato to the melody could've used some variation IMHO. That's my only ding. Otherwise, quite nice.

Very nice indeed, Chris. Both haunting and lilting --beautifully entwined. Oh, yes, and I agree with Deej about the vocal a bit too close to my ears.

Chris, this is very good. Your vocal is really strong and your backing tracks are perfect. The guitar lead fits like a glove and that violin in the background - WOW! Excellent!

An extra thanx for giving the English translation.

This is really good.

Good mix Christian.
The vocals sound good and the plosives/sibilance are at a level expected when someone is speaking/singing so intimately.
The resonator leading into the electric solo is a nice touch too.
Sophisticated stuff.

Cheers

Sounds great! The vocals and instrumentation are a real joy to listen to.

Personally, I'd bring instruments up in the mix - at least the lead instrument when it's stepping in for a solo.

But that's just me, and I'll gladly concede that J&B's ears trump mine. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?
