Love the song, vocals are sublime. If I had one grumble, it would be that the drums are too loud almost to the point of drowning the other instruments. Try brushes rather than sticks ?
Apart from the drums everything else is lovely.

Hey, this is wonderful! Great band sound. Love those vocals!!

cool

Note: I am taking a different approach to getting re-involved and stay involved with the forum after a business-related absence. I listen to the forum in the background while I am writing and working, just to enjoy all the songs. Then, I will go to each one on a separate occasion and share the love.
This is the best way I know to stay caught up. If I feel I have to listen one song at a time and then offer a critique at that time it makes my brain shut down. I just want to enjoy them.
If I post any new songs in the future, it will just be as a “radio” post. If you like it, cool. If not, that is cool too.

Nice job.... yep I gotta agree, the drums are too loud and the vocal isn't loud enough.

If you keep writing tunes like that you are gonna make a big splash. Nice job on the writing.

It's good to see more ladies around here that can sing and write.

Welcome to the forums.

Welcome!

Enjoyed the write and vocals - very nice harmony.

Pull the drums down and you'll have a nice modern folk pop sound for sure.

And this is a GREAT place to pick up production suggestions, etc. Have fun!

Nice song, nice arrangement too.
The drums could use some work when the snare is happening, (is the snare split ? seems the thud is to the right and the wires to the left.).
I must admit to being a tiny bit disappointed in the vocal style at the beginning - it's almost a genre of its own now BUT when the harmonies came in and the indie girl angst left things sounded MUCH better.

HI Rebecca ...

Welcome to the forum! This is a very nice introduction. Great song and enjoyed your vocal very much. I do agree the drums are just a bit loud in the mix. Also, I think the acoustic bass could be somewhat louder. However, that didn't keep me from enjoying your terrific song!

Hope you hang around and post more music. Best to you ...

Alan

I typically listen only to the music but the vocals became a really strong instrument themselves and i found myself listening to all of the song (which my ADHD doesn't let me do to often) -- nice job

Dear Ms. King...

Your plaintive song, Heart Is Still, communicates vivid feelings that are familiar to me. To my ears, at least, your lyrics expose the uncertainty, frustration, and confusion that results when someone who's heart beats strongly for another tries to figure out how 'the other' truly feels about them. That particularly worrisome kind of burning, urgent 'need-to-know!' is powerfully illuminated in this verse:

How can I let go
someone that I love?
How can I let go
someone I will never get to know?

Lady, those words describe a kind of anxiety that could consume the person who is experiencing such paralysis. They hurt.

Each line of your vocal harmonies clarifies and escalates the emotion of the song, as though they were other, finer frequencies that emanated from the same emotional source.

Your Real Style and Real Track selections maintained a slow, lazy tempo that left plenty of thoughtful space for your lyrics to take hold in my mind and my heart.

Thank you for 'letting me in', Ms. King smile.

Sincerely,

LOREN (a.k.a. 'bluage')

Nice song Rebecca...
The melody & harmonies really made the song stand out...
It kind of reminded me of the harmonies from the Kendals...
Good job!

Another great performance,

The down beat on 2 and 4 gives an unusual distinctiveness.

Again, fantastic vocal work.
