At 70+ just did the first 2 hour set for many years. Thanks BIAB which I used to generate the entire show. (Still had a heap left). My entire repertoire is made up by BIAB backing tracks with a few added MIDI parts and me on lead guitar and singing. They are all covers of 50s thru 80s done my way. I’ve done many one hour shows but this was two hours of dancing to old rock and country. What a blast but now I’m beat sitting with a red wine waiting for the thunderstorm to hit my area.

Once again I say BIAB is a great way to produce the backing you want, your way. I use Reaper to cut and dice, mix and “master”. Then put it all on a two in one and use SongBook Pro to put the show together. I turned up with 45 mins ready for tonight and was then asked to do the whole show. With about 4 hours of “mastered” BIAB tracks and words in SongBook there was no issues whatsoever. Could even do some requests.

I am writing this to say it can easily be done.

Fantastic Tony, I'm sure the performance was well received. Two hours is a good session, no question.

Yes Keith it was. Normally I do about 40 - 45 minutes then another chap starts up his “karaoke” which is mostly me singing along with a heap of downloaded files. But he was crook so I did the night by myself. As you have seen I have a heap of stuff ready to do. I was amazed I held up for two hours by myself. Took a break singing by playing Ghost Riders in the Sky as an instrumental.

I did an hour the day before at a nursing home so tonight I rest.

'Then put it all on a two in one and use SongBook Pro to put the show together' Hi, just wondering what a 'two in one' is? What kind of stuff do you do on Reaper? Again, I'd love to hear an example.

A 2-1 is a laptop that can be configured for use as a tablet. Computer manufacturer Lenovo has some good information +++ HERE +++

As Jim says a 2 in 1 is a laptop that can be folded into a tablet. Initially I thought I’d use it in tablet mode but have subsequently found it easier for me to use in laptop mode. The laptop is an Acer I7 with 512g SSD. I sit it on a stand a bit to the side of me. Attached is a Presonus 24C audio interface through which I plug my guitar and the output goes into a Samson 800w PA.

The guitar (my olde Tele) goes through TH3 (amp sim) which is controlled with a Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller. Doing it this way everything is balanced. By that I mean the guitar to the backing tracks. On the FCB1010 I have a volume pedal so I can lift in solos, the volume pedal is preset so I cannot get too loud or to quiet. The second pedal I use to control the speed of an auto wah.

Songbook pro scrolls through the song in time with the backing showing the words and chords to the song. It also controls the song play back which in my case are all BIAB based songs rendered, then mixed etc in Reaper, then converted to MP3 at 320kbps.

As for the songs they are all covers and missing the guitar bits as well as the vocals they are simply done. (I believe it is better to do something simple well than something complex badly.). Being covers I feel a bit nervous about putting them where they can be heard.

That about covers it.

Edit: Lambada I sent you a PM with a link to a few songs. Note these are not public. They are backing tracks without vocals or lead guitar which I do live.

Tony

Thanks. I have an oldish Acer which was one of the original Notebook tablets with an attachable keyboard held together by the case. I too use it as a Notebook. I had no idea it was called a 2 in 1! I actually run my backing tracks (normalised mp3s) straight off my VoiceLive 3 Extreme but prior to that used my phone via Bluetooth (still my backup) and before that the Acer. I just got fed up with having to use the Acer. Everything else is similar to your good self.

It's been awhile since I've played live (work, home life, camping trips, and church commitments get in the way, but it's all good), but I am now sitting in on the monthly "Beer and Hymns" sing along hosted by one of our local Episcopal churches at Gary's Brewery and Biergarden. We played an hour and a half. So much fun.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
