Graham, you have such a beautiful lyrical talent of writing and playing that accordion, it's genuinely moving. There's a funny-sounding chord (to my ears, at least) just before about 1:10, but who am I to nitpick and why would anyone care about that in the grand scheme of things? It's a beautiful, wistful melody you've written.

As for the title, what's the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of this tune? Use that as your title, I'd suggest ... that's what I do when I can't title something, haha.

Either way, I really, really liked this. Thanks for posting it up!

Yeah the ' funny chord '..... The tune's composed in A, and on bar 8 it goes into F just for variety

I'll wait for a title and see what comes up from whom ! LOL

I could think of a title for it myself, but it sounds so wistful, it'd probably have to do with heartbreak or something, and I'm not going to go there, haha. Too many bad memories ;-) but hope you find a suitable title for it, it really is a genuinely beautiful tune.

Yes, I would name this after Donny and Joanne as both are having issues now.

You are my favorite accordion player and you have set a new bar for melodic composers. This was absolutely outstanding.

Keep composing dear friend.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Thanks Floyd. I actually had the chords laid down first, and then recorded the melody as it came into my head. I just left it as was without any tweaks

Very pretty song. I don't know what it should be called but it's got to be something Irish.

We like that timing also and you made excellent use of it!

"...then recorded the melody as it came into my head." You certainly
have some lovely music flowing through your head!

And it flows like a gentle mountain stream...

Enjoyed it!

Very nice, got the relaxodorphins moving through me really good. Enjoyed several listens. As a blues fan, 12/8 is my ballpark but this is altogether different, of course. Keep em coming!

That's a tune that ought to write itself, Furry. The style is unique in that it does not follow the standard verse/chorus/bridge format. Instead, it relies on nuances of melodic changes, one to the others, to draw the listeners' emotions out. This is all done very successfully and with exquisite taste. It would seem to me if a writer simply had an index card for each verse and noted the emotions evoked by each as the song progressed, the job would be well on the way. That's what I meant by it writing itself.
You are gifted.

Hi Graham ,,,

You are, indeed, a wonderful musician! This is just so relaxing and pleasant to listen to. It flows so gently with no effort whatsoever. What a delightful listen!

I often use the #5 chord (The A chord in this case) in my verse endings or the sound ending. Depending on the song, #5 as a maj7th works good, too.

That was a real treat! Wishing you well ...

Alan

A beautiful, elegant composition. It needs a name that captures dancing and the Scottish countryside, or as others suggested, a name that captures the spirit of a person or a couple. The way the instruments complement each other is very much like a romance.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
