A family friend was just on a call with someone from the National Guard. He stated that they were going to be initiating a 1 week mandatory shut down of all businesses (obviously not hospitals).

I do trust this source, but also realize this is not first hand information. I just thought I would pass it along IF someone is not even remotely ready if this were to happen. I'm guessing it would be at least a week out yet, but don't know. That is ME guessing.

While I doubt that's been decided at a national level in the United States, it's reasonable to assume that all options are on the table and the situation will continue to escalate.

Unless something new is discovered about how to approach the situation, I think people in the United States can look to places like Italy as models of what might happen. We're lagging about 10 days behind them.

In Italy, they've basically shut down non-essential services, except for hospitals and grocery stores.

Given the incubation period of the virus, a minimum two-week period seems more likely.

Actually on a national level is precisely what they were talking about. It's not that it wouldn't be extended to two weeks, or that a "self quarantine" would not be used beyond that week; it's that they don't want people out around each other.

I've now heard that from two very reliable people in completely different areas of work. As an example, one is a VP for one of the top 5 health insurance companies is the US. They tend to hear a bit more before we do.

That is what they are saying. They would be using the NG to enforce that.
I am curious to see how things play out in the US. We have a better medical system here; but also weren't prepared for this. I agree that I feel it would be a least a week out. But what do I know? That's a guess.

I completely understand the 14 day aspect, I'm just saying what is being said. It could easily change.

Again, I was simply sharing this information for the sake of our forum members. I'm not sure what the average age is here; but I've picked up from comments that there are enough that this may interest. I'm not a prepper, I'm not a doomsday kind of guy. I'm just letting people know if they would like to know this kind of thing. There are opportunities now to get essentials that may be completely different in the very near future. People can do what they want with it. Just looking out for my fellow forumites. Not trying to scare anyone, or say the sky is falling.

Well it sounds like Trump said today there were talks of a national shutdown but doesn't feel it will be necessary and won't happen.

So, I stand corrected. Carry on.

Illinois has mandated a stay at home for all non-essential workers - that includes me and my business. I thought earning my living was essential, but I guess I was wrong. My company will certainly suffer by this.

A shutdown of "non-essential" workers is really the only option available.

The National Guard has already been called out by governors is a number of states.

Given how he's responded to this pandemic so far, I suspect the POTUS would rather have the governors declare a shutdown at the state level, rather than declaring it at the national level.

So I think we'll continue to see any federal action lag behind that of the states.

Because I support state IT infrastructure, I'm an "essential" worker. But because I've got two elderly parents I help care for, I've opted to be on "vacation" and shelter in place while the state catches up with me, as the work situation has been changing on an almost daily basis.

I'm know I'm truly fortunate to have that option, as well as a job not at risk by this pandemic. My church-related music gigs are gone, as in-person services have been cancelled. But I'd dropped those as of last week as well.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
