Because it's the right thing to do...

LET'S STAY IN

you've always been one
who enjoyed the spotlight
you love partying with friends
deep into the night
but lately things have gotten crazy
feels like we might drown
maybe we consider
slowing it down
let's go a different way
we can stay right here girl
what do you say

   let's stay in
seems like the best thing we can do
   baby let's stay in
   you take care of me
   i'll take care of you
   let's stay in

i know your friends play
fast and loose with the truth
believe it not
no one's bulletproof
so sooner or later
they'll be caught off guard
laugh all they want
it'll bring them down hard
so let's go a different way
we can stay right here girl
what do you say

   let's stay in
seems like the best thing we can do
   baby let's stay in
   you take care of me
   i'll take care of you
   let's stay in

let's go a different way
we can stay right here girl
what do you say

   let's stay in
seems like the best thing we can do
   baby let's stay in
   you take care of me
   i'll take care of you
   let's stay in
   let's stay in
   let's stay in
   wait for the fade
   let's stay in...

Hi Floyd ...

Musically, quite a bit different than what you usually do. But I like it!

As always, your track selection and mix is spot on. The lyric says it all. But I think your chorus, in it's simplicity and very appropriate message really captures the heart of the song. Well done and the best advice possible. When a song is well conceived, well constructed, well delivered, and says something worthwhile ... you can't do much better. Just my thoughts.

Take care and be safe.

Alan

FJ,
raising a bar in turbulent times takes skill and will. Excellent supportive song! You really got a hang of using contemporary sounds and still have a traditional Country feel of your tunes. Listens very smooth. When I try to do something like this, it either sounds too banal or too weird, you on the other hand found a solid middle ground fusing styles. Mix & vocals are A+ (I would not expect less smile )
Thank you for sharing!

Man, you are the master, floyd. You make me wanna kneel on the floor raising my arms up and down while bending my head low. Whenever I hear one of your productions, I always feel, "Yeah, that's what I want to be able to do." Well done! Well said!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Dear Floyd,

WOW - I wouldn't be surprised if this song would break the charts...

Thanks a lot for chosing the subject, and thanks a lot for working it out with such a heck of a tune. Top-notch lyrics, fantastic melody (and what a chorus...), a great backing track and your vocals are simply gorgeous and very convincing.

Good, good, good....

Stay healthy, silverback !!!

1st verse...aw, a love song.
Chorus-See, this is nice
2nd verse-those people are idiots and they get what's coming to them. (Exaggeration) lol
Chorus to End-See, this is nice

Great section builds in this. Just the perfect song for current events. I hope it makes some people on both sides of the fence think!

What a cool song!

So, I responded and am now left with nothing to do. I guess I'll just sit here and wait until you post your next song later this morning. wink

That's the way it's done. laugh

It's got the plausible deniability of appearing to be "just" a love song, with the specifics being vague enough to apply to just about any relationship.

Of course, well written, sung, and produced. Pop and fun to listen to - loved the claps and other loops.

A great message here.

That's cool - a U2 style ballad in the backing and an fj style narrative & melody on top. Works wonderfully well.

This song will be around and relevant as a great song long after Covid-19. The lyrics are as appropriate to general 'love' as they may pertain to the virus.

Instrumentally and lyrically you've written a song that's as pertinent to life after Covid-19 as it is to our current circumstances. Every now and then a song comes along that touches us. You've hit on every now and on every then. You sure pulled it off with this one. It makes my list of favorite Floyd Jane songs...

Enjoyed my listen.

floyd,

This is a mighty effort.

The arrangement and the production have the "WOW!" factor in truckloads. As always, your songwriting and your song-performing leave this Australian audience of one totally mesmermised and reflecting on what a class act you are.

That something as dark as COVID-19 can inspire such a wonderful song really says a great deal about your singer/songwriter abilities.

All the best,
Noel

Floyd,

Terrific and timely tune. Love the backing music on this one—very current, very engaging right off. And like how the lyrics are relevant to today’s strange world, but can have a universal message that can last far beyond what I hope is a short period of time. Well done!

All my best,

Hi Floyd,

I'm afraid I missed this song until now.
Of course it is quality I hear! Your doubles in the vocals, especially at the end of the song are very strong.
It could be considered being a love song, but sadly enough Corona was the trigger. And on that, you can stay in together, but keep your distance! and that's not in your lyrics. I'm fooling a bit of course, but that's because I can't complain about this song! It has a strong melody and likewise this counts for the vocals as well. The chorus is build up very nice, like very much how you did this!
And the topic? These strange times can give good opportunities on a lot of things, but also on staying together...

Mr. Floyd Jane...

"...wait for the fade..." Now, how cute is that??? And, the l-o-n-g fade was worth stickin' 'round to listen to. Always did like long fades in a song 'cause they linger in the mind like the remembered taste of good food, or fine wine...

I think the song, Let's Stay In , should be the theme song for ALL on-line dating sites during this viral crisis. It's a warm, cuddly, and embracing song featuring inspired Real Track choices, heartfelt harmonies and a sweetly-delivered message of import to all of us "because it's the right thing to do."

Great song challenge idea, 'Guitarhacker' smile !!!

LOREN

P.S. Like what 'Noel96' said, "that something as dark as COVID-19 can inspire such a wonderful song really says a great deal about your singer/songwriter abilities."

This is deserving of many streams...actually it oughta be on the charts.

Why, because it's a take on the "situation" that is not only
uplifting but would be a great lyric irrespective of the context.

Janice immediately locked in on the layered harmonies...great they are.
As is, of course, the lead vocal.

Nice choice of RT's, loops and cool to see that you joined in on acoustic.

So, spin the accolade wheel!

click, click, click....stop....SUPERB!

Enjoyable U2-type of intro, soft verse leads to the powerful chorus with nice drums. The production is very polished, good use of loops adding nice details. Nice theme for the current pandemic situation, really anthemic and universal, I hope no-one gets offended when I say that this song should spread fast like a virus around the globe.

You've hit on every now and on every then. You sure pulled it off with this one. It makes my list of favorite Floyd Jane songs...

Enjoyed my listen.

Charlie - that "review" means a lot to me. It was my intent to write this so that it was undeniably pertinent to the current situation, but also be able to "have a life" beyond that...and not have it be a one-dimensional song that would die with the virus (which hopefully will be sooner rather than later, but it does not look like that will be the case)

Aced it FJ! Love everything about the way you put this together, performed and produced it. Really cool message wrapped in a love song. If I was still on the air, I'd play it. Best compliment I can give you.

Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Hans

Thanks, Hans... these are strange new waters we are sailing...

I know I posted to this song!

What the...

Maybe the corona virus ate it.

Anyway, this is awesome (again) and I LOVE it.

Also, thanks for checking in on me for a year. I am back in bro. Sorry man. I was tuning my guitar.

Floyd,
One of the best pop song intro`s I`ve heard on this forum, leading into a vocal that`s goose-bumps good.
All the accolades are deserved- a stellar write, performance and production.

P.S. Like what 'Noel96' said, "that something as dark as COVID-19 can inspire such a wonderful song really says a great deal about your singer/songwriter abilities."

LOREN - thanks for the fine review. I appreciate that you had an appreciation for "wait for the fade..." smile

That wasn't a good forum song that focused on COVID. It was a GREAT song, period. Well structured, great harmonies. That song should have legs. Nice work.

As is, of course, the lead vocal.

Nice choice of RT's, loops and cool to see that you joined in on acoustic.

So, spin the accolade wheel!

The chorus really sets its hooks in you. As others have said, this is definitely hit material.

Think its all been said by now, this was an interesting song from you and as always you do it so well.

TO be honest I always admire your track arrangements, stop, start, the lay out of your songs it inspires me to put a bit more effort in to mine than I would do, again its a belter.

Thanks

Floyd, your vocals have always been so good but I've noticed that your compositions and arrangements are becoming more complex and just plain slick! That intro grabs the listener immediately! Perfect message for your listeners at this strange time we live in! Such a beautiful job all the way around! To quote one of your phrases "I'm a fan"! Thanks, Torrey

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
