1) a notation program that plays back as shown in the video
2) a video screen capture program
3) an audio capture/routing program
For #1, I use Notion (I own all of the Notion instrument libraries), but others (less expensive) that play in real time should work just fine (e.g., Guitar Pro 7).
You can use any music playback software, and just do video capture.
The example you showed was using Notion. Notion has a pretty extensive default instrument set, what you're hearing there probably uses one of the add-on sound libraries.
I just grabbed the free version of Free Cam, and did a recording of Notion. Super easy, it's even got a YouTube upload button. The free version doesn't allow any much editing (i.e. no titles), but it's an easy way to experiment, if you're interested around with something like that.
Heck, you could even use MS Paint to create a graphic of a title, record a few seconds of that, pause the recorder, move the notation music software's window to the recording software's focus, and start it up. Free titles.
I simply had not thought of a screen recorder. I thought there was something specific to this task and I couldn't find it.
I'm experimenting with Snagit, which has been recommended here before and I have already. I'll look over these other suggestions if that doesn't do it.
Thanks for the help!
EDIT: I just looked again at Notion, since both of you mentioned it. Yes, that's what I saw. Looks pretty good; I'll have to evaluate it again.

BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors
The reason that I purchased Notion in the first place was it was an inexpensive application that, in addition to notation, it had a fairly complete sound set, and played nice with other sound libraries.
(Actually, I purchased a reduced-price version of Progression a while ago, and upgraded because it was inexpensive. But back to my rambling...)
After several versions they've sort of let that "play nice with other sound libraries" go to the wayside. When I upgraded to the 64 bit version, it no longer worked with my 32-bit version of Miroslav.
Not their fault, since it was a 32/64 bit compatibility thing. But disappointing nontheless.
The I upgraded from GPO4 to GPO5, and Notion didn't seem to offer any way to work with the new release of GPO. I can still point to the GPO5 library and tell it that it's GPO4, but still...
Perhaps this has been corrected in more recent versions of Notion. As the last release or two focused on iOS features and connectivity with Studio One, there wasn't any compelling reason to upgrade to it.
They have a bunch of add-on instruments, deeply hidden on their website. Sometimes they go on sale, but they never seem to advertise it.
This includes a Jazz Bundle and a Brass Bundle. It's really nice to have these libraries, since the dynamics and articulations are integrated into Notion.
Unfortunately, they haven't put much effort into demos, so there aren't demos for many of the instruments, and the few that they have sound like MIDI demos to my ears.
You may have a more positive opinion than me.
I keep hoping that they'll eventually support NotePerformer, but no word of that happening yet. I can still dream.
All my opinion, feel free to take with a huge grain of salt.
This is very helpful, thank you. I found the demo, which is not on their website, and worked with it. I was not able to get any sound to my Roland Integra. I did like the note entry and the Music XML import.

Yes indeed Notation Composer can produce that display from midi or kar files. And as such will use whichever mid synth you like to send it to. (Set up menu)
The view in you pic is the conductors Score (you can also get part scores as well and change key etc
Thanks Charlie. What I want to do is offer previews of my compositions for big bands.

I understand your desire Matt but it's not clear to me that Notation Composer can include live audio, RealTracks or Artist Performance Tracks like a BIAB file or if Notation Composer only does MIDI/KAR. If it can, my bad. I'm completely unfamiliar with the program.
Turning a BIAB project into a Soundtrack accommodates live audio, RealTracks and Artist Performances as well as MIDI in any combination all the while using BIAB algorithms to adjust the number of bars and tempos to exactly match the desired length of your project and it loops the Soundtrack if necessary. Here, I presume when you say Preview, you are speaking only of a portion of perhaps a 7 minute composition that you can sync the BIAB SoundTrack with a video displaying the notation.
SoundTrack can use your existing BIAB file and be more advanced than only midi (if that's the case with Notation Composer) and it can already produce sound from your Integra-7.
You can test and review it in five minutes with any BIAB project you currently have. It may or may not work for you. Just a suggestion of a way to sync your BIAB score.
EDIT: After posting I saw others had mentioned syncing audio with the video project and discussed audio capturing software. Note that using SoundTrack will produce a digital render of your BIAB project (I assume here you are composing in BIAB) and generating a first generation audio file with no duplicating possible audio to audio degradation.

Thanks, Charlie. The product used in the link I posted was Notion by Presonus, not Notation Composer which is a procduct I haven't used. That might clear things up a little.
Right now, I think I am all set.

No problem Matt. I'm just as clueless about Notion by Presonus, even though I use a lot of Presonus hardware and software and I'm a big fan of the company. Notion is beyond my musical pay grade just the same as Notation Composer, Finale or Sibelius.
I think the reason Notion is known somewhat on this forum is that it is promoted as being tightly integrated with their DAW, Studio One. Many of us tried Studio One when we thought SONAR was dead, and some stayed with it.

I did'nt read all the posts but you can capture Musescore with ActivePresenter (free) after capture you can add Biab tracks to it (Annotation Tab > Audio) then render to video.mp4 Biab will render the notation to video but if you want them all you will have to combine them in a free video editor or ActivePresenter may also do that (Annotation Tab > Video). The _J140_OS demo was save to musicxml then opened to Musescore, screen captured, then the Biab master render was added in ActivePresenter and the Musescore soundfont track muted (Speaker icon > mute). You can align the BB audio track to sync by sliding. If the sync goes out in a long video, select that track then you can adjust the playback speed of the video by clicking the red runner icon. I uploaded the Musescore.mp4 video below:

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
