Hello everyone,

I long for the summer, and had heard enough of all these Corona troubles. So I made this song with a Caribbean feeling: https://soundcloud.com/user-296497130/live-your-dream

I grew up in the Caribbeans and allways loved the sound of steeldrums. Then discovered it was in the library of BiaB! The lyrics are less sunny. They are based on a meeting I had when I was in Malaga, Spain some weeks ago (just before it wasn't allowed to do because of the virus). But I put something of hope in the chorusses. combined with the sunny feeling of the steeldrums I believe it will work out fine for that woman and everyone else who needs a mindset these days.

She told me she liked it
Hope you like it too!
Hans Berkhout

The lyrics:
Live your dream
(c) HwBerkhout, March 26, 2020

Verse
There you sit in your old chair
A tired face and lifeless hair
Red eyes, tears that barely wait
But a mind giving up faith

You lost what you once got
But finding it again you can not
You heard too many lies
Why not try it otherwise?

Chorus
If you feel it, you can get it!
You won't loose a day
If you stretch out, you can reach it
You'll find out anyway
Always cherish your self esteem
Stay strong,
Live your dream
Live your dream

Verse
Once you were a happy girl
Treated like a precious pearl
Once you sparkled like champagne
Now only memories remain

Once you thought living your dream
That all ended in a muddy stream
You heard too many lies
Why not try it otherwise?

Chorus

Solo

Chorus 2x

That's cool, Hans. Great island feel, and the vocals are very uplifting. I like the hits in the chorus, and the added voices. That steel drum is ideal for this one.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hans,

I like your island side. Nice to see someone using the BIAB steel drums (the Latin elements, too).

Cool chorus!

Live your dream! Indeed.

Uncap a corona (the beer) and kick back.

Nice change of pace for you here. I like the soundstage your mix created, it played very well in my headphones. Good work!

Hi Hans,

steel drums - what a gas... For me you are the real RealTrack digger. And, man, you used them so well...

Good lyrics, especially as I know a bit about the backstory. Very appealingly arranged and your vocals are always a smash. The chorus is jaw-droppin' !!!

Love it! A Lot!

Stay healthy, dude,

Stefan

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your post and that you liked the song.
I am also satisfied with the harmonies. I changed the lyrics a couple of times, after I did the mixing of the song. and had to do these harmonies all over again. But each time they sounded better. But that was not the intention laugh

Hi Marty, thanks. When I found that steedrumstrack in the BiaB library I was eager to make some kind of song with it.
The problem was, like with reggae, with my kind of voice it is a challenge if it works out ok. But in this case it did. Especcialy in the chorus. Though a son of mine said (after posting the song) I was singing to quickly for a tropical song. And he sent me an example. That are my boys...

Hi Floyd, what I wrote to Marty, above) I could have written to you too. I'm glad you liked it. It had some challenges. And I hope the woman in the song tries to live like that title!

Nice day,
Hans

It's great to hear so many songs with positive message on this forum during these days. Very enjoyable mood, excellent production and good catchy singing, especially in the chorus. Good selection of instruments, nice to hear those steel drums, nice breaks also.

Hans,
Nice loose feel you capture with those drums and your vocals- the chorus brings the celebration up with very good harmonies.
Reminds me a little of Jimmy Cliff`s You Can Get It If You Really Want - which is good company!

Excellent!

Love the style and especially those drums.

A fine melancholy (mostly) write and well delivered with the
vocals. The chorus is standout and the positive lyric there
is a nice contrast to the verses.

The mix sounds really good on the KRK's.

Well done and enjoyable!

Hi Stefan,

In an email you explained 'gas' to me. I didn't know it was something possitive. Now I do!
And you were serious too on that 'jaw drop' expression. So, thanks a lot for your comment!

Hi Scott,
In connexion to this song I read you and someone else mentioned Jimmy Buffet! That is something special, I think. I'm ashamed to say that I don't know him, but I looked at the internet and saw the old version and the recent Jimmy. Looks good, so that's some compliment for me, Scott. Thanks!

Hello Janne, unfortunately that Corona virus will rule our world for some time. In the 'old' days we heard about wars, refugees and environment issues, now it seems those problems are solved. We only face a viruswar now (this is cynical, as you might have noticed).
But beside that, we all have time to make music that have messages. I did this message and I am happy you liked it all. Especially those steeldrums. Did they make you long for summer?

Hi Robbert, I know that song. I'm proud you placed my song alongside that one! If only I could get a bit like the attention that song had...
Thanks for your kind words.

Hi Janice and Bud, wow this is some compliment you gave on this song!
And you listened to it on the speakers cracked up high. I feared the sound of the steelband could have damaged your ears or wineglasses, but apparently that didn't happen...

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
