Thanks TuneMonger. I wasn't sure how a jazz/big band track would go on the forum but I've been thrilled with the response. I tried lots of other ReaTrack sax soloists but 'older alto' was by far the best.

The Swing of Things conveys all the excitement and driving musical energy that one would expect to hear in a composition composed and arranged for a jazz ensemble. I think it would 'perk-up' the ears of any listener regardless of their genre preferences.

Thank for listening Loren. I think I'll pin your kind words up in a prominent place in my home. Or, as we say in Australia, "this is going straight to the pool room" (the line is from an iconic Aussie movie called "The Castle" - it means that it is worthy of treasuring and preserving).
I really appreciate your detailed comments.

Mike,

I’m not generally a fan of instrumentals or jazz, for that matter . . . but this is very sweet. The production on this—the mix—is, to my ears, perfect. This is a dancing, swinging tune that will get every toe tapping. The bass is crystal and killer—really carries the song along. Gorgeous tune, expertly crafted!

My humble regards,

Deej

That's a very engaging song - it swings along, and the solos are interesting and fit well.

Did some of the horn section parts sound synthy? To my non-expert ears, yes.

(Then again, sometimes I think that when listening to actual horn parts, so what do I know?)

Did it in any way diminish my enjoyment? No, not a single bit.

Not even when I had a second listen. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Very nice work - true to the name, and I love that swinging groove on it. The mix is top notch too. It all fits into place perfectly, and keeps you engaged the whole way through.

Great job, thanks for sharing!

Hi Mike,

It takes some serious production skills, and obviously knowledge of the genre, to be able to put something like this together with BIAB, well done!

WOW!

That is SO SO SO good!

Might be the best instrumental I've ever heard on the forum.

The horns are amazing. In fact...EVERYTHING is.

Pro level mix.

WOW!!!

COOL.

Hi Ray,
Every time I post a song on the forum I look forward to your forthright, no BS comments.
I'm glad you liked The Swing of Things. I was a bit hesitant as to how an out and out jazz/swing instrumental would go, but so far the response has been very positive.
Hope you're well and staying safe,
Regards,
Mike

It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing!

Sounds like a bunch of folks who’ve been playing together for years.

A remarkable display of the capability of BiaB in talented hands.

Everything is hittin’ the note!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
