Hi Floyd,

I'm always curious what you would reply on my songs. Mostly it is someting on the eq in the higher vocal regions. And always you are right about it. But in this post I read only compliments! Then I knew I'm on the right direction to improvement. Thanks for giving me that nice feeling!

And yes, sometimes it's nice singing a bit angry. Especcially if you feel that way. And there was one line in the lyrics from my sister in Australia. The line that was "cleaned" in this forum because it was considered as inappropriate language. She couldn't understand what I was singing and thought I was that, but it was a line very lovely to sing...

Hi Mario,

Thanks a lot for your nice words!
It's sometimes dangerous to talk (or sing) about politicians. Before you know it you receive all kinds of nasty comments. But luckily I am not that scared ;-)

Read my comment on the post to Floyd about the anger. I'm not such an angry 'young' man. But so now and then it's nice to sing like this. It is only difficult not to get a clipped vocaltrack! Completely in red. This one also ended in super red, so I had to adjust the volume of those parts. a bit a pity, but unavoidable.

Hello Peter,

I agree with you we don't hear this kind of music often on this forum. I experienced it before when I made a 'metall' song about the Dutch. And wait for my next song! Something with a steelband...
But with doing this I can explore BiaB thoroughly on interesting sounds.
Thanks again for your compliments, Peter!

Hans

Hi Hans ...

I **REALLY** like this! A modern sound with terrific backing tracks. As mentioned, the anger in your vocal really sells this. Love those pizzicato string hit! This is a great song that was a terrific listen! Good work!

Wishing you the best ...

Well done Hans!! Has a great, gritty, 80's kind of vibe.......mix and vocal are perfect for the style of song too! Really good!! Take care. Greg

Hi Stefan,

I love cranking things, not just a bit!
But thanks for your positive judgement of the song! Especially the lyrics! That's why I didn't sent them to you (or Ray). I feared they came back to me heavily underlined in red! ;-)
No, as you know, I'm teasing the both of you.

I hope you like me experimenting with styles, because very soon I will post a song with a steelband. Luckily BiaB had one in the instrument cabinet...

All the best,
Hans

Hello Ray,

I am very pleased with all those compliments from you.
But I want you to stay sharp on my songs; too sharp, too loud or whatever. That's what you normally say. So I'm getting a bit nerveous, because it can't be I'm that perfect. Am I?

Hold on with your government,
Hans

Hi Janice and Bud,

It's not my normall behaviour being angry, as you certainly will know. But in certain 'occasions' one needs to raise his voice. The only problem is that those 'occasions' are increasing these days! And I don't want to yell in all my future songs.

I am really glad with what you said about the mix that stands your monitors! I remember the first time you wrote me about your monitors. It had to do with a song I posted some while ago. I was so amazed people testing songs at the max of the volume on their monitors. but at the same time it also filled me (a bit) with pride because you did this ánd my mix holds. And now I did it again!

I also like the idea our songs being 2 sides of the same coin in this issue. In a way we work together now ;-)

Thanks for all your compliments,
Hans

Hi TuneMonger,

I really appreciate what you wrote.
I hesitated a bit about adding those yelling voices in the back, but because they expressed their annoyance and despair I kept them in.
so thanks a lot for listening and your comment,
Hans

Hello Misha,

It looks you are taking Rays' role in commenting my song ;-) : (Mix is good, not your best smile but good!!!)

But on the other hand, you wrote a lot of nice things about me and the song. That flatters me!
I am doing my best trying to get a good sound. You know how I (we) struggled with eq's, mixing and all those things. Still I know I have a lot to learn! when I hear some beautifully recorded and mixed songs I know I have a long road to walk...
And trying something different or new is what I allways like to do. For me there is not one mold, but I think that counts you in as well, am I right?

So thanks for listening (the first time and now again).
I'm very happy with your comment,
Hans

Hi Alan,

That is a nice way of telling me you liked my song and the elements in it! although I haven't heard you about the yelling ladies...
Thans for all this. I really appreciated it,

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your enthusiastic comment on the song and dating it being from the 80's as style.
I had no date on the style of the song, but yours is good enough for me ;-)

Cheers,
Hans

Yes!! Your voice shouting out the lyrics and your choice of loops and the backing sounds really convey the message brilliantly, Hans. I concur!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Marty,

Thanks for your comment, but next song I won't shout my lyrics into the air, I promise!
I will do something else, maybe you like that too.

Hans

Mr. Berkhout...

Hm-m-m...I think you must have got a lot of something off your chest with your song, New Times, New Rules laugh. It's got guts and drive, and attitude! Made me want to shove my fist in the air and shout, "RIGHT ON, HANS, TELL IT LIKE IT IS, BROTHER!!! mad "

The righteous indignation in your vocal performance reminded me of the way Don Henley belted-out the lyrics to his sharply observant song about media corruption, Dirty Laundry, in 1982. Also, I liked the barely-heard voices, or voice FX, that seemed to emanate from one of the exotic loops you used. The somewhat assymetric structure of the verses was ear-catching, too.

Ya' got it in yo' soul, Mr. Berkhout, and you definitely got your message out into the world on this one. Keep on speaking truth to power laugh !!!

Hello Bluage,

What a nice post of you! I'm very sorry I responded so late, but I was very amused by what you wrote and also how you wrote it.
I can see before my eyes how you shout out what you wrote and have that fist in the air! That's the way I want to see people reacton this kind of songs...

It's interesting of you to mention those vocals in the background in the song. Actually these are not loops, but from a program called Exhale. You can manipulate voices with your keyboard. Very nice program. But I was hesitating a bit when using it. I asked myself; isn't this too dramatic? I couldn't decide it was, so left it ion the song. And you are the only one mentioning them. Nice!

So thanks again for your very kind and nicely chosen words!

Hans

Excellent song, and great lyrics and message. You may disagree but I got a real Who/Stones vibe in there in the vocal delivery and the lyrics, and the "anti-establishment" attitude, and this carries over in the the musical style. It's clearly not straight rock and roll. It really works though - you need a lot of energy in a song like this and you deliver.

I like this. Really good lyrics and exciting tune to listen too. Always good to listen to a song with a strong message as well!

I like the way you've melded all the different tracks in together. I've always found that whenever I get that many it all sounds very messy but you've definitely mixed them together into a really exciting sounding song.

Hi Ed, sorry I respond so late. I must have missed your nice post. and of course I won't disagree whith you if you have Who or Rolling Stones feelings when listening to this song and my vocals. But I wouldn't dare saying such things to people in this forum! I think they put a label on my name saying; "this guy is too vain. Ignore him...". But now you are telling it, they believe this is true. I like that. And it was great fun making it. My Australian sister altered one line, she thought I was singing about a fat [*****], so she wrote that to me and I used it in the song.

Hi Richard, to you the same apology as to Ed. And what you wrote about the melding, that was what happened the first times. I couldn't mix that well and it became muddy and also too sharp. But I tried some more and I succeeded. Just trie something. You have the fun if it goes well. Well... I did!

Thanks again and stay save,
Hans

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
