"Folks are pointing fingers in the face
Of other people just because of race
It won’t help anything
‘Cause hate’s a sickness, too"

What a great verse, so true.

This is definitely in the Bacharach and David wheelhouse. Super smooth jazz sound here with an outstanding vocal and lyrics all blended in the perfect mix.

This is really good!

Hello, Mr. Garry...

"...get a serious message across without sounding preachy." That means a lot to me, Mr. Garry. I'm glad you could relate to the lyrics, and I appeciate your comments about the production, too.

I wish the same thing for you that you wished for me smile

Sincerely,

LOREN

Hello, 'Deej56'...

I agree with you about the Mmms and Aahhs. I think they possess a serene, spiritually calming feel and sound. They're a fabulous addition to BIAB's Real Track offerings. There were some Ooos in the third verse, too, but it's apparent they got lost in the mix.

I'm grateful to you for listening to the song, and also for letting me know what you felt about it smile.

Truly,

LOREN/'bluage'

Hello, 'dcuny'...

Yeah, the 'Bacharach & David' sound is just one of those musical styles that'll live forever. Actually, if it wasn't for BIAB's auto-suggest feature, I probably wouldn't have discovered it.

Thank you for auditioning the song and expressing your thoughts about it smile.

Sincerely,

LOREN

Hello, Ms. Josie...

"The breezy feel arrangement juxtaposed against the serious lyrics leads to a hopeful feeling." I'm pleased and grateful that the song came across to you that way smile.

Wanna hear something interesting? That music was in my head at least two to three days before I discovered 'Guitarhacker's' songwriting challenge. Because of that, I really, truly that feel my Creator wanted me to use it for the song -- kind of an advance 'credit' that he wanted me to deposit in my song bank laugh.

Any old way, it was nice of you to comment so nicely about your listening experience. Thank you, Ms. Josie!

Truly,

LOREN

Hey, there, 'Tunemonger'...

"I like how this song is so cheery in spite of the subject matter, almost as if to say 'the heck with it, I won't be brought down.'" Ha, ha, that was an interesting comment smile !!! I can't make the claim that I intended for the song to develop in that manner, though. It just came out that way.

'Tunemonger', thank you for communicating your thoughts about the song, and I look forward to hearing everything you post on the Forum smile.

Sincerely,

LOREN

'MarioD'...

Concerning the lyrics you quoted, it is my strongest, most heartfelt and urgent wish that at least one of the constructive outcomes of this plague that has descended on us, will be that it will cause us to realize that if the Creator of this universe didn't want us to help each other, he would have put only one person on this planet, self-contained and needful of no one else. However, since that wasn't the case, then it's blindingly clear to me that that's what he wants us to do.

Thank you for taking the song in and giving something back smile. Wishing you "all the good things, until the crisis ends."

Your vocal is outstanding, Loren. This is a marvelous production, using perfect choices for instrumentation. Love that piano solo. If this is all a Job test, you pass with flying colors, man. An inspiration to all!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

I like the way you describe the song as you heard it: 'breezy' smile. I'll buy that !!!

Your comments are like the last few drops of rain after a storm -- pitter, patter, plink! -- as they are a summing-up of all that fell before them.

Gratefully,

LOREN

Excellent!

Love the lyrics, very much on point. Especially liked the third verse:

Folks are pointing fingers in the face
Of other people just because of race
It won’t help anything
‘Cause hate’s a sickness, too

Good vocal, and the spoken word part is great!

Nice long fadeout to end things off.

Really good, enjoyed very much.

Hello, there, Chris ...

Your 'handle', 'WobblyGstring', put a smile on my face smile.

Your comment about the song's form is appreciated. It came to me pretty much as a result of recalling how a lot of songs from the 60's that had a duration less than three minutes long employed that structure to heighten the emotion in the lyrics by repeating a chorus and and modulating the key upwards by semi-tones.

Thank you for listening to the song so closely !!!

Truly,

LOREN

yea this was a nice flow along song, with appropriate lyrics for the song theme.

I got a raindrops keep falling on my head feel from this, and that's not a bad thing as these kind of songs stick in our heads.

Thanks

Hello, 'beatmaster'...

Yessir, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head by Burt Bacharach and Hal David was the musical model for the song smile.

Thank you for taking in the 'appropriate' lyrics. I'm happy to hear the song stuck in your head !!!

Sincerely,

LOREN

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
