Yes, I had a dream this night… about the next version of BIAB. And in my dreams, I was able to….

1 - Export multi drums as separate tracks
2 - Add any number of tracks I want in the mixer (why 7 by the way? why not 5 or 10? Is it because 7 is supposed to be a magical number?)
3 - Insert blank measures at the beginning of a song
4 - Regenerate only parts of a track and/or specific tracks instead of regenerating the whole song with all tracks
5 - Use the « force to simpler » function only on parts of a track and/or on specific tracks instead of the whole song… why not creating a « spare » function ? In order to easily add space to a song (for exemple to create a « breakdown » chorus before a « climax » chorus at the end of a song)
6 - Create fills at any place in my song and with any track : let’s say I want a drum fill at measure 4 just before the drum beat starts, then I put my cursor where I want it to start, I call this function, a pop up window appears, on which I can define the instrument and the fill’s lenght
7 - Create a tempo map… as you know, in real life a song’s tempo varies throughout the whole song.
8 - The last but definitely not the least : If I want to improve the connexion between two chords, I’d like to be able to select this specific zone on a track (few beats or even few measures) and toggle the different possibilities. (Otherwise I need to export the track to a real DAW and manually modifie this zone, cutting, pasting from an area to another…). Yes, I know the « multi riff » function, but it’s not the same thing.

I’m sure that for some of my requests, other users use « tricks ». For exemple, the Fill In request : I can « hold » drums on beat 1 & 2 and then get back to normal on beat 3&4, but that’s not a fill in.

At the very end of my dream, I won 100 millions euros at the « Euro Millions » lottery… and… just before buying PG Music in order to make BIAB what I want it to be … I woke up.

Pffff…

Might be time to take your items to the Wish List.

I don't think they can help with the bit immediately before you woke up though grin

No 4 is a regular Wish List one. It IS available in RealBand but I'd also like to be able to do it 'on the fly' in BB whilst creating my arrangement in the first place.

Hm I have a similar dream regularly for the MAC version :-)

1) For example, writing notes in editing would be just as effective as, for example, Guitar Pro, MuseScore, Sibelius .. Just be inspired
2) So that at least when printing or after freezing, chord diagrams can be displayed similarly to all music applications
3) To allow the user to define keyboard shortcuts, eg for deleting or correcting a note in note editing mode. Today it is necessary via the context menu.
4) Because I'm Czech and we have those weird letters with hooks in the alphabet. So that BIAB respects them in all places, especially in file names and lyrics
5) So that printing notes from LeadSheet is not a job for the killer, but allows you to visually format the final form of the sheet music. Today I prefer to export to MuseScore or Sibelia and I will only print the score there
6) Be able to enter fingering and thus notes in the melody and solois track by writing in tablature, on specific strings and frets as is usual in tabulation programs such as Guitar Pro or Tabledit. For example, through a virtual guitar fingerboard or other stringed instrument.

7) In short, if at times the colleagues in PG were inspired by the competition and maybe came up with another more perfect way, such as dictation, as we write SMS messages today. For example, I would say tablature
"E 0 2 3 4" and the notes on the string E (e, fis, g, gis) would be written :-).

8) I know that BIAB has been around for about 30 years and in some places it is quite visible. Even so, I love it, and I just have a problem explaining it to new users who are used to other standards from other music programs, and I have to say that unfortunately it discourages some from buying it.

9) For most users in our country in the Czech Republic, BIAB is a relatively expensive program, which due to the changes is mainly expensive annual UPDATE and UPGRADE, although it does not bring new features for the user from the point of view of the user. Many of them told me that with the same content, they would only need to upgrade the basic application and not always upgrade the most expensive package they bought at the beginning.

Despite the above BIAB I only love these dreams of me, sometimes (about 10 times a day) when using circles over my head.

I hope I will not be completely crucified and dishonored :-) Sorry for the bad English, it's probably Google Translator's fault

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
