Five to Go

Rharv showed me how to make a 5/4 song out of a 4/4 song in PGMusic's RealBand. I was able to take the 5/4 time signature into my DAW as 5/4! This is great news for me. This is my first attempt at that process.

BiaB style - Sirus - Sirus - Smooth Jazz

I deleted the drums and replaced them with a progressive GrooveMonkee 5/4 MIDI drum loops.

Drums - Session Drums - FX - Maserati drums.
Strings - Kontakt - Artic Strings - preset slow octave
Guitar - modified to better fit the time signature - Synthmaster - preset smooth as ice
Piano - modified to better fit the time signature - Keyzone Basic EP

I am playing:
1-Fretless bass - Amplitube -SVX - pop chorus - FX - Maserati B72 mono, Presonus comp
2-guitar - amplitube = preset Jazz amp 120 - FX Waves H-comp
3-glockenspiel- FX Waves H-comp

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Mario,

I can only count to 4, so this is beyond me... wink

But it all sounds good. Not my genre, but I can appreciate music well done. (I've never understood why some folks won't even bother with stuff outside their interests frown . Music is music...)

That glockenspiel is cool!

Good mix.

I agree with floyd jane - the glockenspiel is VERY cool! Also: you really are, as I wrote on SoundCloud, one of the most accomplished musicians on here. I don't know how you do it - the command and control you have over harmony and harmonic progressions is just something else, and it all works together to make incredible music - which is what matters to me, at the end of the day. Hats off, sir.

Thanx Floyd, but I know that you can count over 4.

I like to experiment from time to time. Not all of the results are good though!

Thanx so much James. I will leave the studio after my head shrinks back to its normal size. Thanx for that!

Mario,
I`ve got a foot tapping out of time with my head nodding... so maybe I got the beat?
Nice jazzy guitar and that glockenspiel is quite tingling and trippy.
Very creative!

Thanx Robert for these comments. I had a rhythm guitarist once who could keep time with his guitar but not with his foot. That used to drive me nuts.

WOW, I always thought 5/4 would sound weird but quite quickly it is a comfortable flow!! Who said we should be stuck in even numbers? Very cool tune Mario!! Take care. Greg

Nice little tune. The piano melody is so soft and sweet. The guitar playing is good. Nice one.

Thanx Greg for listening and commenting.

PS - don't forget that 3/4 is not an even number wink

3/4, 2/4, 4/4 ... anything beyond that is above my paygrade.

Well, we do enjoy Brubecks's take on it smile

And we enjoyed yours!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
