Doves

Here is just a little quick and dirty ditty that hopefully will bring a little serenity in to your life. This was quick and dirty as the whole song took about 3 hours from start to finish.

BiaB style = Doves - Straight 8ths Arps South
Tempo = 50

Bass - Kontakt - Ample Bass - preset upright - FX - Waves Bass Rider
Drums - Presonus - Standard Kit - FX - Waves CLA Drums
Piano - Synthmaster - preset LED Delicate Bell Arp - FX Presonus Pro EQ
Guitar - Kontakt - Armedeus - preset Harp - FX Presonus Pro EQ
Strings - Synthmaster - preset new testament

I am playing the violin via my wind controller and the vocal pad via my keyboard.
Violin - Kurt Hunter - solo vionlin
Vocal pad - Kontakt - preset Angelica Vocal Pads 6

All but the bass and drums have a touch of reverb via a reverb bus:
Reverb - Raum - preset Orchestra Hall

Master - Presonus Pro EQ and Multiband Dynamics

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Mario that's exquisite, and really tugged at my heart strings. almost sounds like a theramine doing the lead melody. Fantastic orchestration. Very haunting and moving piece of music. Love it to bits.

Wow, Brother!

This just puts me in a totally different era for a few moments.

I can picture men in sleek suits with skinny ties, women in frilly dresses and up-do's.
A couple of 50's Cadillacs and and Lincolns pull up as the crowd slowly walks into the building...

I enjoyed listening to it, thanks for posting.

Now if I can find my Packard keys, I'd be okay...

Mario,
Meditative and lovely. The violin soars in a delicate way.
Very soothing music!

Great stuff Mario. I was visualising the doves circling under the dome of some great cathedral.
BTW, when you use Raum as the reverb bus do you turn up the 'Mix' button (the big one in the middle) to 100%. And how much is "a touch of reverb" on the other instruments?
Once again, nice work Mario.

Hi Mario ...

Totally loved it. I know this will sound like an oxymoron (my wife says I'm a moron minus the oxy!), but this is somber, yet full of hope and carefully groomed but a very subtle hint of rising above the chaos. I hope that made sense ... couldn't find the exact words.

I do a lot of these "quickies" they often turn out pretty good. If more of them turned out even half as nice as this one, I'd be deliriously happy and excited. A tip of the composer's hat for a job very well done.

Wishing you the very best. Be safe ...

Alan

Nice contemplative piece, the highlight being the violin played on the wind controller.

Hi Mario,

You did very well, those 3 hours! You made a really fine piece of music. I could see the doves circling around.
Especially the strings (melotron) worked out very well in the melody.
And nice to read you also use the Raum reverb. Nice to work with, don't you think?
I liked your song very much!

Thanx Mike for listening and commenting. No I do not turn Raum's mix to 100% wet. On this song it was set around 35%. Raum was on an FX bus and each track had a different level assigned to the bus.

Thanx for these kind words Hans. Sometimes a song just comes together and this was one of those songs. Yes Raum is a super reverb. I have a number of reverbs and this has become a favorite.

Mario,
Haunting and sedating (in a positive way) piece of music. Crazy what you can do with that wind controller! I think that Raum glued everything together very well. Enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
