Hand On A Rock

I heard myself say as I was walking with my son

Take a look around you think of all the things you’ve done

Think of all the children who never got the chance

to live the way that you’ve lived to dance the way you’ve danced

Take a look around take a little time

Try and make a difference change someone’s life

Place your hand on a rock

say this is who i am

and from this day forward

I’ll do everything I can

To give a little more

glad we took this walk

cause the whole world changes

When you place your hand on a rock

It’s a complicated world so hard to understand

I’m not sure it gets easier as you become a man

it’s important that you try to give a little back

And the peace that it provides is all that you can ask

Take a look around take a little time

Try and make a difference change someone’s life

Place your hand on a rock

say this is who i am

and from this day forward

I’ll do everything I can

To give a little more

glad we took this walk

cause the whole world changes

When you place your hand on a rock

Hi Tom,

A super song with a great message.

An excellent backing track with lots of textures in there.

Fabulous vocal and cool harmony on the chorus.

It was a good move keeping the Dobro!

Loved the whole thing.

ROG.

Awesome vocal and perfect timing for the lyric Tom. REally glad you didn't sell the dobro. You steel and dobro have been an inspiration for me. I have a lapsteel and have been trying to get some practice time on it. Very difficult instrument to play. All feel. Well done loved this

Tom,

Good write. Nice message.

The mix sparkles. You get your vocal to sit in a mix so well. Crisp, clear, but never getting "above the mix".

All the instruments sound good. Acoustic, steel, dobro. Drums! and Bass...

A terrific listen.

Wow. This song came at the perfect time for me - I was having a bit of an "argument with God" tonight and then I stumbled on this song. Wow. But enough about me. The song is nothing short of genius. The lyrics are pure magic, your voice's depth is extraordinary and makes the song what it is - it's so believable as the father talking to his son. A superb, professional job ... with a message and lyrics that go that extra mile and make this not just good but outstanding. Superb. Bravo.

Love it, Tommy. Rocks and trees are my best friends. Weird, but not sad. Yeah, That dobro sound is irreplaceable, and it really shines in your hands.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Sweet message delivered in a sensitive and manly manner. The band is and sounds great, including the dobro. Just a really nice song that feels right.

"It’s important that you try to give a little back

Packed with wisdom as is the entire lyric.

Glad you held on to that dobro...been one of our fav instruments
for many years.

The vocal is very rich in sound and the sincerity of the lyric is
soulfully delivered.

You always thread the needle when you pen a personal tune in that
it always can be appreciated and enjoyed by so many.

And the production...what to say? It's a tommyad production smile
Always pro level.

Great tune Tom and we enjoyed it!

Scott, the thing about moving from guitar to something with a bar is intonation. It really develops your ear. With today’s world of online tutorials it is a huge advantage that I didn’t have 50 yrs ago when I started playing steel. It took at least 2-3 years before I had the courage to play with anyone. Keep plugging away, it gets easier. Thanks for the comments, Tom

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
