Lots of good stuff. They released a group of 18 videos with the news of Melodyne 5. Lots of geek factor in these for those who like to learn all of this....
I'm using editor here also. Upgrade was $99, not a bad price IMHO.
Yes, I upgraded through Sweetwater since I have a card with them. Went to enter the key code at Celemony and found I had upgraded to Studio and some point. I totally forgot!
I called Sweetwater and they were able to refund my Editor upgrade and get me the Studio upgrade I needed. Great customer service! I was able to get the correct code in and I'm up and running.
OK, I have Melodyne 4, Assistant. It does not have DNA Direct Note Access – algorithms for polyphonic instruments such as piano and guitar. So I assume all this "Chord Stuff" onlyl works with the more expensive versions? Is that correct?

You need Editor or Studio for this “Chord Stuff”.
Ya, that is what I figured, thanks for confirming. Looks like $249 needed for dual upgrade, version 4 to 5 and assistant to Editor.
Then there is EZBass for $149. No way I can spend $400 and get both.

I would check it out as this was mention in the Reaper forum:

Apparently even Melodyne 5 Essential can get create a chord track from polyphonic audio..
It shows about the chord options. At the end he goes on to say that even the Essentials Program will display chords. You can only edit monophonic but it will display the chords (polyphonic).
That’s how I understand it.

Wonderful The video clearly says the chord identification works in all versions of Melodyn. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The $49 upgrade is much more palatable.
I have Melodyne Studio 4.2.3.001. I use it almost every day for pitch and time correction...
Apparently my upgrade price for Studio 5 is $149. I'm wondering if it's worth the price... any thoughts..?
Here is my benchmark standards for software:
no-brainer limit < $49 USD stretch-limit $50 - $99 USD ouch-limit $100 - $149 USD but I really need this limit $150 - $199 no-way limit >$200
I have Melodyne Assistant 4.0, to upgrade to Melodyne Assistant 5.0 - $49 Then to go up to Studio 5.0 is another $199. So I am asking the same question as you

I upgraded from Studio 4 to 5 as well. For me it's about having the latest features and tech. Go through all the info they have on the new features of 5 and make the choice. If you cannot justify the money because 4 is doing every thing you need it to, don't upgrade.
Repeating the link for all the videos for you to peruse. That helped me a lot. Melodyne 5 Videos
If you would like to do any what's shown in this video, then you'll need the Studio version. I bought the Studio version during the v2 to v4 upgrade for a similar price. Never regretted it. Don't use the Studio features often, but when you need them, it's a huge time saver. And Melodyne 5 is now easily my deesser of choice!

Just installed this Melodyn 5 Assistant upgrade, and had an immediate Virus Alert from MS Defender during the install. Win 10 was the Newest Version (Just installed Win 10 update v2004 hours earlier). Machine shut down hard. I grabbed this image just before shutdown. Took some time to get the machine running again. Install appears to be successful. Both standalone and VST3 in Reaper loads with no issues.
Just wanted to give you a heads up. This sounds like complaints we get at times for BIAB updates. I can only imagine (and hope) it was a false alarm due to the ever changing versions of Win 10.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
