Robert, Scott - This is excellent. It's great to hear people going for something original and different, especially when it works, and this really does. The vibe is super smooth and has a bit of a haunting element to it. I think you're really onto something here - a distinctive sound, and it's really easy on the ears. Great vocals, really sweet guitar work.

Listens very well. Robert's voice a bit angrier in places than usual and that works! I like how Scott's guitar cuts through the mix. Congrats to both of you and thank you for sharing.

Misha.

P.S. Cool picture for the tune

Thanks Misha for checking out the song. I have often wondered where the all these songs come from. So many different influences. I loved it when there is a hint of everything in the song. A sort of goulash of music influences. A liitle dash of blues, a touch of folk and four parts rock and roll. :-)

Very well sung and played. Nice complementary thing going there.

Thanks for providing all the track info and your instrument setup, etc.

You two have a good thing going!

Thanks so much for the awesome comments Janice and Bud. Glad you liked the song

This song is so intimate I'm a little embarrassed listening. Love the layers in the band covering the sonics and "thickness" with Scott's high lines bringing it all together. A pleasure listening.

Thanks Tangmo for the awesome comments. So glad you liked the song.

I think there are some realtracks missing from the RT list, at least organ and vocal ones smile

Of course Roberts' vocals and lyrics need no more compliments. They are always very good. Although in this song even better...!

So well done again, you two!

Hans

Thank you Hans for the very gracious comments. Yes the Les Paul did the solo on this song. The guitar has a very solid and full tone to it. So glad you liked the song

There're a few spots of particular aggression veering into clipping on the vocal that a faster compressor setting may mellow or a touch here and there of PREFX volume automation could resolve, (pre becasue the reverb etc may be part of the issue in they way they react to the transient).

Thanks rayc for checking out the song. Also thank you for the comments on the mix. I have been working very hard to improve my skills with the art of the mix. So much to learn.

Thanks Ed for the awesome comments. Robert and I really try to come up with original content on each some we work on together. Love exploring the different sounds and tones. Really enjoy Roberts lyrics. Such imagination and seems to express his lyrics perfectly with his vocals.

Sorry it took so long for me to get to this one (I'm glad I did), I thought I had, but obviously I hadn't.

Robert is becoming a master lyricist. I love the vintage feel and sound. Your guitar, as always, is spot on.

Late to this party, cool song.

The mix was pleasant and clear, but it sounded it was mixed by the band's guitarist, if that makes sense. The guitar seemed to have a more prominent place in the mix than the vocal.

Nice vocals by Robert - good emoting, I loved the growl he added. A bit of a Talking Heads vibe, in a good way.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks David for checking out the song. Appreciate the comments regarding the mix. Since Robert and I have been collaboration I have been playing in behind his vocals. With this mix I was concentrating on machine sure there was good separation and clarity with all the instruments on the track. The idea behind it being that all together the formed a single unit but if you concentrated on a specific area you could pick out the kick or hit hat or high melody in the background. The guitars are panned quite far away from the vocal so may have focus a little more in this area.

Glad you liked the song

I think it worked very well. The timing allows the understated vocal the necessary room to make its impact. Interesting that you chose a melodic theme that reminded me a little of the theme music for Clint Eastwood's "hang 'em High." which brought up an emotion of open spaces.

Hi Scott,

Wow, I really would like to play guitar the way you do!
Having a real lead just makes the vocals and everything congeal a lot better.
The whole project sounds really cool.
Great music, lyrics and vocals.

Thanks for posting it.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
