I actually ventured a long way from the BIAB style with this track - hope it still qualifies to be posted here!

I started out with the midi style 'Karma' and loaded the song demo 'Chantala'. That sounded pretty good so I took all the tracks into Logic and started assigning different instruments. Then I got a bit carried away on guitar and the backing all sounded too pretty. I started replacing tracks and all I really ended up with was the 'warm pad' and 'strings' which I used synths to change their feel. So not much left of the original BIAB although I stuck with the chord progression.

So:
- Warm Pad and Strings from 'Chantala' in 'Karma Style'. Synthmaster sounds.
- Rhythm and lead guitars are a strat through Amplitube.
- Bass is IKM Modo Bass VST played on keyboard.
- Drums are processed using Logic Drummer with EZDrummer drum sounds.

Here's the track: https://soundcloud.com/user-663569023/revisiting-forgotten-shores

Thanks for listening....

Yeah! I absolutely love this. Guitar work is perfect, great tone and feel.

No problem posting this here BTW, just so long as BIAB was involved in some part of the process.

Deeply atmospheric. Sweet tones from the lead strat. Enjoyed it very much.

Great moody piece, love that lick just before the end. Good work.

Thanks Tunemonger. When that lick popped up out of nowhere I almost re-recorded the whole track with that as the theme.... Maybe another song....

Chris,
My kind of guitar playing- great tone and phrasing that`s controlled and still passionate.
The full backtrack soundscape works well as a backdrop, but your strat takes the track to a sustained high level.

I used BIAB as a launch pad often.
Most time I only end up with BIAB drums in the final count.
The bass does sound midi/subby/dance.
The kick is a little too batter/click for my tastes - but that's a tase issue.
The synth pad is in danger of swamping things on occasion.
The Amplitude sounds are cool...Gilmour preset?
Nice playing.

Cheers

A Gilmour preset? Hmmm, that would be nice. It might save me a lot of time spent tweaking parameters...!

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Just one of many excellent uses for the program, as far as I'm concerned. The "waves" of the synths were pretty big and required some sensational "surfing" of the lead. You delivered. Much enjoyed.

Gripping. I've got to side with Alan on this one, I love this style. You've really captured it perfectly and put your own unique stamp on it with that guitar. Those guitar tones were pure butter all the way through. Outstanding track.

Chris, this is my first listen to your material and man it sounds great to me! The guitar, tone and playing, is fantastic! The great thing about BIAB is that it can be used in so many ways! It can create a fully pro production or just be used as a scratchpad. I have used both ways. This is mighty fine work! Big applause here! Thanks, Torrey

Outstanding!

Love the style, tone and chops of your playing.

This has a very cinematic feel to it...could easily imagine it in a film.

Thanks for the info on how you put it all together.

Enjoyed it!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
