I'm posting this in the BIAB forum because I suspect that there are many who might have missed Hugh's post at the below URL...

For those who haven't yet got these BBC orchestral sounds up and running... I seriously encourage you to do so.

They are AWESOME!!!!

I've been playing around with the collection tonight and I'm blown away by the quality.

How they can be used in BIAB if you cannot confidently write MIDI instrument parts....

  • 1. BIAB MIDI styles have string tracks created by PG Music. Using a VST softsynth and loading the Spitfire strings into those tracks will lift the sound quality of the backing immensely.

  • 2. My approach is to save a track created by BIAB as MIDI and then to transfer it to Reaper. It is there that I add the VST and load the BBC strings.

  • 3. If you have BIAB (Windows), Realband also makes working with MIDI a comfortable process.

  • 4. A number of "Pad" and "String" Realtracks have notation that could be saved as MIDI and then used in a DAW (such as Reaper) with these BBC sounds.

  • 5. SuperMIDI "Pad" tracks could also be used with these orchestral sounds.

I read recent thread on these forums asking about how to improve the quality of MIDI sounds. THIS audio collection is a great starting place.

Thanks heaps, Hugh. I would never known about these if you hadn't posted the link.

Thanks too, floyd. It was after listening to "She'll have to be the one" at the link below that I zoomed over to pick this sound collection up. The two week's wait to get them was well worth it.
