Assuming you mean record the audio from the keyboard into computer, 2i2 is a nice unit.

Fine for audio, does not do MIDI though.

There are many USB interfaces that should work as long as your laptop USB works good.
USB 2?

the cheapest way is a simple midi to usb cable/connector if you can output the tracks as midi - some online selling for around $10

alternatively i have a behringer uphoria which was not expensive

and the way i've read it is that you already have the audio files in BIAB - you want to add the keyboard in PowerTracks.

by the way when you say audio files in BIAB do you mean RealTracks?

why not use RealBand? it will open BIAB files as they are whereas PT won't, and you still get BIAB functionality

then with a midi to usb connector you can add the keyboard parts

a MIDI to USB will not record the audio from the keyboard.
It will allow recording MIDI.

MIDI has no sound

However, Bob's Euphoria suggestion would work also.

Lets assume that he is not a troll. He should come back and tell us what he wants to record, MIDI, audio, or both.

Also if money is tight he could run the audio out of the keyboard to his computer's mic input. I know this is not the optimum way to record but it would work. He could also load the BiaB song in a wav into the keyboard and work there.

Terry, I would get an audio interface as that is the best option. You don't necessarily need a MIDI interface as you can use a USB chord connected to your computer for MIDI recording.

Good luck.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I assumed the keyboard had a midi output but maybe I was wrong. Certainly a midi to usb link would be the cheapest option.

Look at the input connections on the Solo; one is XLR, one is 1/4" .. this is why I suggested the 2i2.
It has two combo jacks, so can accommodate any combination of the two (each input jack can accept either XLR or 1/4").

If you want to record that keyboard in stereo (preferable) you'll want the option to use two 1/4' jacks.
You do not get this with the Solo, from what I've seen.

I'd really suggest going that extra bit for the 2i2, just sayin'
MUCH more flexible .. can stereo mic a guitar, record 2 vocals at once, record the keyboard in stereo with no cable mismatch, record a guitar and a vocal mic etc. etc.

This is one of those times where a little detail can make a big difference for recording.

Also
I assumed that keyboard had USB MIDI (being a Roland guy), but I'll be darned if they mention it on the links I saw, even in tech specs .. so figured I'd mention the MIDI thing in the previous post I made.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
