It's A Fine Line I was playing around with Kontakt Picked Acoustic (I recall when I bought it that it was a topic in the Off-Topic forum )and used it as the intro guitar. As is often the case I used it once and then move on to something else but but the guitar certainly sounds rich. Leon - Lyric & Vocals I played the acoustic solo and sang a little. RealTracks in style: 3119:Bass, Acoustic, PopHalfNotesSync Ev 085 MIDI SuperTracks in song: 1805:Synth Pad, PopBelieve Ev16 065 RealTracks in song: ~365:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 085 RealTracks in song: ~1118:Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Strumming Ev 085 MIDI SuperTracks in song: 2242:Piano, Electric, Rhythm CoolJazzPop Ev 085 RealDrums [in style:AmericanaRoots16th^02-a:Sidestick, b:Snare Plus the above mentioned guitar. It’s A Fine LineIt’s a fine line between today and tomorrow It’s a fine line between happiness and sorrow It’s a fine line between feeling good and feeling like Your world is coming down around your ears It’s a fine line between ignorance and hate So much depends on each decision that you make There’s a fine distinction between who you are and Who it is you want the world to see Don’t be afraid To roll the dice Every waking moment Involves a choice One day you’re down and out Then you’re riding high One day you’re crawling And the next day you can fly It’s a fine line between sickness and wellbeing How much can you really trust what you think it is you’re seeing? It’s a fine line between the infinite variety Of futures you potentially will see It’s a fine line between the darkness and the light It’s a fine line between what’s legal and what’s right It’s a fine line between standing up for dignity Or giving in selfishly to greed Don’t be afraid To speak the truth Speak it to power Offer them your proof Raise up your voice And make them hear It might surprise you How much you can achieve It’s a fine line between today and tomorrow It’s a fine line between happiness and sorrow It’s a fine line between feeling good and feeling like Your world is coming down around your ears It’s a fine line between feeling good and feeling like Your world is coming down around your ears

Peter,
Love the opening on this—really engaging. The repetition of “fine line” works vey well, setting up the song structure, and everything plays off that. Really like the lyrics here—you carry the theme of contrasting extremes all the way through both consistently and meaningfully. Really like this one—well done!
Oh, and that drum just kicked in around the three minute mark—nice touch.
Kind regards,
Deej

Lots of hooks Peter: lyrical, melodic & musical. Tidy arrangement to support you narrative and voice. Ace.

Great choice of material.
A really good write, and the told story is remarkable.
I really enjoyed the backing vocals too, it gave additional purposeful depth. It was interesting to see how late you decided to introduce the percussion into the song.
Nice, all around.

Peter and Leon,
That opening guitar sounds really good. Does that come with patterns to select or do you program all of that yourself?
Speaking of fine lines...there are many in this write. One right after another. Solid.
I really like the way... "It’s a fine line between feeling good and feeling like Your world is coming down around your ears" ...breaks the rhythm of the previous pairs. Very effective.
Nice outro guitar solo.
Well done.

floyd jane beat me to the "fine line" pun/ Jangly - nice build throughout the song. I like the way you change the rhythm the second time through the verse. Enjoyed this listen!

Very good work Peter! That guitar certainly sounds pretty good to me! The song has such a great message and I feel you constructed a wonderful backtrack to carry it! Nice work on the lead and bg vocals! Thanks, Torrey

Peter & Leon ...
You two gentlemen create some fabulous music. I always anticipate complete listening satisfaction when I click onto one of your songs. I'm never disappointed. Love the drums with your acoustic arrangement. This is simply wonderful. Congrats to both of you for a job well done!
Best to both of you. Be safe ...

fj Thanks floyd. The guitar comes with lots of patterns - you just provide the chords. There is a thread in the off topics forum about exporting chords from Band In A Box to midi and into programs like this. Peter

I like this. Nice work on the song and the lyrics, as others have said, are well written.
Yep... The kontakt guitar actually sounds pretty convincing. I have a third party acoustic guitar called Strummer. Sounds really good but it's a little bit stiff and sounds too mechanical as a result.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Peter, Leon Very nice tune. Lyrics and performance is ACE. Kontakt Picked is ok...works, but as soon as Peter's solo comes in, you can see why it is just "ok" Congrats on this project! I would put this tune among top few I heard from you. Thank you for sharing. Misha.

Hi Peter an Leon,
I saw I am not the only one mentioning your 'fine lines'. Your lyrics are cleverly made and very good performed in this nice melody with the pretty good sounding acoustics.
This is very well done, Hans

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
