All I have is a Stratocaster, a few dozen chords, and a copy of BIAB 2020. But I plan to take on the world.

WHAT I BELIEVE
By David Snyder

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs3/what-i-believe

V1

Well I believe in harmony
And I believe in Destiny
I believe in living free
And I believe in you and me
I believe in white and black
I love everybody I ain’t takin’ it back
And I believe in sayin’ grace
And being thankful for just having a place
And I believe in red, white and blue
Yeah I believe in me and you
And I believe there’s a God above
I believe it because it’s true
And I believe we should get along
And it all begins with a song
I believe in being honest
And I believe in being strong

CH

Yeah, it’s what I believe
It’s what I believe
It's what I believe

V2

And I believe in telling the truth
And I believe in showing some proof
And I believe there’s hope for everyone
Under each and every roof
But I don’t believe in shame
And calling one another names
And I don’t believe our families deserve
Even one more second of pain

CH

Yeah, it’s what I believe
It’s what I believe
It's what I believe
The world will be good
If our hearts are good
And I will not be deceived
It’s what I believe
Yeah, it’s what I believe

V3

I believe in showing love
And you can never show enough
And I believe in giving the love of God
Whenever things
Get rough
Cause I believe in what I say
Won’t say it any other way
Cause everybody
Will have to answer
On their own
Come Judgment Day

CH

That's a good time. Love the lyrics. And a great job with the recording.

Question. Is this a new version of a song because I seem to recall this song a while ago.

Thanks Herb!

I played the rough draft for you two weeks ago at our NSAI meeting online.

Y'all told me it had too many words and needed an e minor chord, which I gave you.

David.

I believe I like it!

A huge ear-filling sound. The mandolin was a great addition.

As is always the case, the passion in your vocal is unndeniable.

Truth be told. Amen.

This rocks and it's a cool arrangement.
Mandolin certainly gives it a sense of authenticity too.
The bell hits on the cymbal in the chorus are LOUD though.

I believe this is your best to date David!

I liked your chord progression, your passionate vocal, and your mix. What took this over the top were those outstanding lyrics!

Fantastic job on this song!

Hi David,

On your SC site I wrote you have a lot you believe in and I believe it being a good song!
When the song ended another one from you started: Praying for Something. I liked that song too.
Especially the guitar played very nice in it. In 'What I Believe' the guitar is the opposite of this. You nearly mistreated your stratocaster (but needed for this song of course).
In a way the songs are in line, but maybe now you know the name of the one you're praying to and -maybe- believe in?
Nice lyrics...!

Stay safe,
Hans

The three most common "commandments" in the New Testament: Love.
Don't fear. Don't be deceived. Hang in there, as none of those are easy. Powerful stuff. Great ebb and flow in power.

This sounds very much like a new hit from one of the greatest rock stars on Earth, true big rock sound stadion antheme with simple great sing-a-long message. Why is this missing in the top 10 listing then? Maybe this is a hit in a parallel universe, on some other Earth?

David - this is one rockin' song! You really put everything into this - great sound, great energy, excellent lyrics which really delivered. I applaud the way you took your energy and applied it to something positive and uplifting like this song. This one's going to be resonating in my mind for a while!

Hi David
Great sound. Really enjoyed your vocal on this one.
All I have is a stratocaster and a few chords...hmmm...sounds like a song idea in there.
Regards,
Leon

We can't say anything that better illustrates our opinion than the above.

Great performances and RT choice.

Excellent!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
