Please see attached. Why do we need these? Actual tracks have the instrument "types" in their name(s) already... Am I missing something? Thank you for explanation.
DSM, ok good explanation. I do have some vision issues myself.
And I think I have idea how to solve that and save large chunk of space. Names of "types" in the mixer could be made to display in bold, same size as on left side. It is comma/column separated, so should be fairly easy to achieve.
Or even get a little more creative and display "instrument types" in different color (perhaps user defined color?)
Unless... this column is serving some other purpose...?
Since no one answered, I assume they are just for the "looks"...? If this is the case, since we do not have a plugin wishlist, please consider suggestions:
1)Names of "types" in the mixer could be made to display in bold, same size as on left side column.
2)Those names of instrument types in the mixer with user defined color or a "different" color than the rest of the RT name line for easy ID.
So RS, to the best of my understanding, the one in the left is showing which style track, and the one in the right which Real Track. On the next page down it would be extra tracks left and RT name right same with Multiriffs. This make sure you are clear on which page and track your working on. This is based on the structure of the styles and where the tracks are located in them also defining which style tracks don’t have RTs

Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.
In the pic below it just has a simple number that seems to do the job as I can tell by the color it's a realtrack and the name says Bass Acoustic. What it does need is an option to re-channel the midi file to be sent on ch 1-16. It still needs to able to send the chart as well as midi, like if you want to use the RealDrumChart or the chart of the piano.
Pipeline, that is next step of the next step. I am just trying to point out things from ergonomics view. As Deb mentioned, it might be hard for some to read RT instrument names in the mixer as they are. Making them bold through not very complicated filter/query should solve that.
And another reason not to have these instrument tabs names on the left besides just repeats and waste of space ... When you have your Wavs ready, visually you are dragging them through those instrument track names, where in theory, they should be the right by the "edge". I hope I am making sense
I did suggest dragging those track names to drag the wav but this way you have wav/mid or chart(mid) together like in Biab you have all the drag formats together.
That works for me! Now we just have to switch out the template and connect functions, while everyone is sleeping, call it v3.0 and pretend nothing happened.
Here it is sending the midi(chart) or audio by left click select, ctrl+left click can be made to select output or drag export. Ch will set to the current channel of the midi file. Ch can be set to re-channel the midi file output. Have Tabs with chords, tracks, chords&tracks, preferences. When more audio outs are added you can then select what channels other than default 1-2 the track will be sent on. Generate/play from RAM can be added.
There are some minor things that if it was up to me I would do. For example the way you select wavs / midi etc for dragging. Ctl+drag is an elegant way, but at least half (if not more) people are "mousers".
One way is to have additive clicking without the need to hold shift or Ctrl with reset on next generation or first "drag-to-daw" or similar rules.
When you left click the WAV icon it doesn't do anything so I suppose if you make it so you left click to select wav or midi/chart send and left drag to export.

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
