I reinstalled all of my music programs on a single computer desktop Lenovo P310 installed music programs on D: because of the ghuge memory need (C: is SSD 250Gb while D: is HDD 2Tb)
Band in a Box, Real Band and the old programs like Master Guitar Jazz presents all the same problem in the windows of music notation
many of the notes are represented with a rectangule like if the placeholder has not been filled with the correct image
according to the PGmusic support I reinstalled the fonts but nothing changes
the only difference I see with all of the other installations I did in the past on the several PCs I used is that the installation has been done on D: instead of C: This choice was the only suitable because the C: SSD is only 250Gb and I dont want to change it with a larger SSD
is anyone experimented the same problem? and possibly solved it? THANKS
Regardless of where the music programs are stored the pg fonts need to be in C: windows fonts. As this is the OS. They will be called from there when required by the notation part of the program. So having the software on another drive that is not the same as the OS should be no problem. So this seems to be a windows problem as you say it is not confined to PG programs. It seems more likely, that the problem is with your graphics driver, or even maybe screen resolution to my mind.
I'm not sure exactly how to assist, but this does sound exactly like a fonts installation issue. You mentioned you have done that, but didn't provide a procedure on how you undertook this.
In the past, members with font issues have run the installation program with minimal install options set, which will include installing the correct fonts in Windows. This has usually resolved.
You mentioned

What actual steps did you take?
BIAB & RB2024 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
Find out if the notation font is in fact installed. There are several PG Music fonts, one of which is pgmus.ttf (PGMusic F Regular), and this needs to be installed to view notation properly. The BB program installer installs the fonts, or you can run bb\Data\Installers\bbfonts.exe. It doesn't matter if the Band-in-a-Box program is installed on your D: drive or wherever.
I suggest:
1. Reboot your PC. 2. Run the font installer again.
Now, check to see if the problem is fixed. If not, take a look in the Windows fonts folder:
A - Check the C:\Windows\Fonts folder to see if the font is there. The Fonts folder is "special" in that it shows you the title of the fonts installed (PGMusic F Regular), but doesn't show you the individual files present.
B - You can look "under the hood" at the actual files in the Fonts folder. You can get there the following way. Type this into Explorer: \\localhost\C$\Windows\Fonts
When all else fails try doing a Return To Factory Settings in BIAB.
If that fails and you see the fonts in the Windows\Fonts directory and you did the PGMUSIC Font Installer program then I am stumped. I would then be looking at a possible corrupted font file.
I've seen it before but not in BIAB
BTW, My program is kept on my E drive and I have not incurred any problems seeing the notation.
I have a total of 6 fonts installed. I 7zipped them and put them in a Dropbox location so if you want to, go to this link and download the file(s). I will keep them there for a about a week.
It's interesting that it appears to only be 1/8th notes (quavers) that are affected.
I would try the return to factory settings also, and if that fails, uninstall and reinstall the program as a next step. Consider re-downloading the distribution from your account to PG Music.

I have the same problem and I can not find a solution doing the above my system is windows 10 64bit. Was a solution found?
It is definitely a solvable problem, though we never heard back from the original poster in this thread. Which version and build of Band-in-a-Box do you have?
There are several PG Music fonts. One is called pgmus.ttf. The name of this font is PGMusic F Regular. Can you please tell us if you see this font when you navigate to the fonts folder in Windows Explorer? (C:\Windows\Fonts). A screenshot would be great.
Here's Georgios's screenshot for those that didn't want to click on the link he provided. It appears that eighth note and sixteenth note noteheads were not showing up.
The strange thing is that I purchased a Lenova all-in-one to just put BB on to it with only protection and cleaning programmes added later I had so many problems with not being able to update various apps that I scrapped the idea and stayed with my HP decktop For example Acronis would not restore on it even after many support efforts Outbytes repair issued and modified app I later found out that certain apps have had to issue special variations of their apps to work on Lenova May have nothing to do with this particular problem but others may have found difficulties with Lenova structure Jazzman

I’m pretty sure you mean Lenovo. I have a Lenovo laptop and it has ran PG products for 5 years no issues. I’m guessing that if you spend some time and call tech support they can help you figure it out.
Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.
I'm sure it's a problem with windows 10 because I installed the program on two different computers without any problems. But from windows I did not solve the problem
Andrew would know best, of course, but the screen shot you attached shows part of the font for notation works, and part does not. As VideoTrack observed, that's very strange. In cases I've seen where this font was not installed correctly, ALL notes looked like the missing ones in your screen shot. I'm thinking your font file is corrupted. Have you tried downloading the zipped fonts from JCland (above) and installing them?

Yes Antrew I have it all and I did all the above you say but I did not find any solution I tried and the graphics card nothing was solved I also defaulted the fonts in windows 10 but the same situation. I will probably need a format. Because on two computers that I tried different the band in box 2020 worked perfectly
Once you've installed the update, check the notation window. If the problem still exists, close Band-in-a-Box and add a text file called safemode.txt (contents do not matter) to the \bb\Preferences folder. Run the program and notice that it should say "safe mode" on the splash screen. If not, then you didn't add the text file properly. Does the notation still have the same problem?
In that case, you should now delete the safemode.txt file from bb\Preferences, as that was just a test that simulates factory settings. You should do the following steps.
1. Reboot the computer.
2. Open a command prompt as administrator. To do this, type CMD in the Windows search (bottom left corner of the task bar. When you see Command Prompt, right-click on it and select Run As Administrator.
3. Navigate to C:\Windows\Fonts. To do this, type "CD C:\Windows\Fonts" (without the quotes)
4. Delete the PG Music fonts. To do this, type "DEL pgmus.ttf" Then, repeat this for the remaining PG Music fonts. Here is a list of them:
C:\Windows\Fonts>del PG Music Font medium.ttf Could Not Find C:\Windows\Fonts\PG ifound thiς in cmd but i cant delete
That doesn't look like the name of one of the fonts. Andrew meant to type each line like this from the command prompt:
del Pgchords.ttf del Pgjazz__.ttf del pgmus.ttf del Pgtext.ttf del Pgtextj_.tt del Pgtextje.ttf del BeStPlainXZ.ttf del RealScoreChord.ttf del BigBandChord.ttf
i cant delete this ttf 20.068 PG Music Font medium.ttf and i did not find it anywhere.I mean fonts and registry.I show it only to cmd.But i cant not delete it C:\Windows\Fonts>del PG Music Font medium.ttf Could Not Find C:\Windows\Fonts\PG

There is no font called PG Music Font. Andrew said this: "Delete the PG Music fonts." That is not the name of the font. You only need to delete the fonts he listed:
You open the command prompt as mentioned as Administrator the do the delete command as I listed previously:
del Pgchords.ttf del Pgjazz__.ttf del pgmus.ttf del Pgtext.ttf del Pgtextj_.tt del Pgtextje.ttf del BeStPlainXZ.ttf del RealScoreChord.ttf del BigBandChord.ttf
If there was a font called "PG Music Font medium.ttf", you would have to put quote signs around it like this: C:\Windows\Fonts>del "PG Music Font medium.ttf"
That's because the command prompt cannot handle spaces unless you have quote signs around it.
but same thing .I m not find the solution!!!!!!!!!
Georgios, we understand your frustration, but you are only telling us that you didn't resolve your issue.
Step back a little and try to be more methodical.
Please list down every single step that you took, and what the result of every step was.
It will take longer to do this, yes, but simply providing a statement that you didn't find the solution - without the detail of the steps you took - makes everyone else's effort to assist based on guesswork only.
Please be thorough and methodical, and then we can get a clearer picture of how to make better, informed suggestions to assist you.

The commands through the Command Prompt will not work under Windows 10 unless your user account has ownership of the Windows\Fonts folder, so forget about deleting the fonts through the Command Prompt.
The "official" way of uninstalling the fonts is as follows: Go to Windows Settings (right click the Start Menu and click Settings), then go to Personalization then Fonts. Search for these fonts one by one, then click on each of them and click Uninstall. The list to search is as follows:
PG Text PGChords PGJazz PGMusic F PGTextj PGTextje BeStPlainXZ BigBand Chords RealScore Chords
Once those have been uninstalled, please try to run the Fonts installer at x:\bb\Data\Installers\bbfonts.exe, where X is your drive letter.
As the others have said, please be as methodical as you can. For each of the listed fonts, please let us know if the file comes up in the search or not, whether it gives you any problems Uninstalling it, or whether you encounter any other problems during the process, and write down detailed messages as to what happens and any error messages you encounter.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the help. I found the solution which was a problem with windows. I checked the UTF-8. I unchecked it restarted and everything went normally.
For the benefit of people who might stumble onto this thread, we found the specific setting that causes this to happen on some Windows 10 PC's (rectangles displaying in the Notation Window).
Access the "All Control Panel Items" screen. To get there, you can enter this path in Windows Explorer: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items
Go to Region > Administrative, and click [Change system locale...] There is currently a setting "[ ] Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support"
To fix the problem in Band-in-a-Box, uncheck the box, and reboot the PC.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
