I have started using the Chord Chart Timeline more in my compositions and found where there are a number of chorus's and part markers, it's difficult to quickly determine the exact bar and chorus position.

I currently reference two Icons from the View and Tracks Menus to locate the 'first' Bar of each Chorus 1,33,65, etc and request a small change in the timeline bars at these points by either changing the color, font size or otherwise mark these points for better visual time mapping.

I agree that much better visual indications on that timeline would be a big improvement.
(Also, does it need to show every part marker? E.g. If some items were optional, it would make for a cleaner and more readable display, especially cursor position)

Charlie, just clarifying, it would pick up the new marking (whatever it is) from the repeats, yes? In this case, bar 1 through 32 is a chorus. It would change if you had an intro. Let's say your intro is bars 1 - 8, and the new chorus "once through the song" is 9 through 40. Then the new 'first bar of the chorus' would be a marking on bar 9, 41 etc.

Could each "chorus" be a different background color on that timeline?
Or at least alternate between 2 "selectible" pastel colors.
Then the intro or outro could also be different colors.

Just trying to think "out loud" here.

That isn't normally an issue because I use the Part markers to mark the structure most of my charts between intro's, verse, Chorus, Bridge or whatever. My issue is looking at the main chord chart on the 2nd or 3rd chorus of a 4-5 chorus song and the song isn't unfolded, each chorus looks the same including the numbers and it takes more than a moment to find my place.

It's no big deal but I noticed it was a repeating pattern of having to search for my place in the Chord Chart on a recent song and likely an easy fix for PG Music developers. Because the chord Chart layout is 1-32 bars selection per chorus, the first bar of each chorus falls under the icons above the timeline gave me the idea a proper marker would be a better idea. Those icons probably won't work if I change the layout to display 8 bars across rather than the default four.

That would probably work quite well. It's not a big problem so I hope any fix will be simple.

Maybe you could make it as a separate resizable window or dockable like the mixer ?
And even better have an option to show a Big Clock like RealBand

Pipeline, that is an excellent idea so A BIG +1.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Yes, a dock-able clock would be nice (dock-able everything would be nice), though it isn't addressing the original suggestion to differentiate choruses.

Sometime back when this timeline was introduced, there was a suggestion then to make it more readable, especially for live playing. It was so far not implemented, but did get favorable support. So I still vote for these suggested visual improvements to be made. +1

2017 suggestion to improve the readability of the timeline.

Yes you are right it's all been asked for over n over.
I think it was all implemented after VT's 2015 Concept Video

It would be good if user's could modify and create additional modular features/skins like Reaper rather than sitting back and wishing for years n years feeling powerless.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
