I was searching for a song idea when I thought , why not write a song about writing a song ? The first draft included namechecking many of my favourite artists on this forum but then it occured that you may not like that . But I did leave the best one in. The essence of the song is to encourage comments (good bad or ugly) in order to improve. When listening to one's song over and over one gets to the Forrest/Trees point when a fresh pair of ears is required and this forum is the perfect place for that. So crank the dial up to #11 and here is : Love it , Hate it , Rate it BIAB 1739:Bass, Synth ModernDancePop8ths Ev 120 1747:Synth, Rhythm ModernDancePopRave16thsTickle Ev 120 1744:Synth, Rhythm ModernDancePopRaveDrops Ev 120 1395:Synth, Rhythm, EuroDance SubduedHitsStraight Ev16 120 1738:Bass, Synth ModernDancePopSync Ev 120 2308:Synth, Rhythm BubblegumPopPluckySynth Ev 140 1932:Synth, Rhythm, EuroDance SubduedHits Ev16 120 1771:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm JazzFunkMovinMuted Ev16 130 RealDrums [in style:UrbanPopEv16Uplift^1-a:clap, b:tamb 1739:Bass, Synth ModernDancePop8ths Ev 120 1747:Synth, Rhythm ModernDancePopRave16thsTickle Ev 120 1744:Synth, Rhythm ModernDancePopRaveDrops Ev 120 1395:Synth, Rhythm, EuroDance SubduedHitsStraight Ev16 120 RealDrums [in style:SynthDrumsDanceRock^2-a: Electronic Claps , b: Snare and Bass Style is _KPELEC2.STY (Medium Electronic K-Pop) Me Guitar patch on my synth _Lyrics_ The music in my head is driving me crazy Got to get it down but I've been too lazy Guitars and gadgets are filling up my man cave Strumming and strumming until I get a brain wave Love it , Hate it , Rate it. Thank you Marty. And thank you also for being the first to comment. It was a nervous wait for a reaction to this song and if one person likes it then I am a happy man. Cheers Marty.

Wow.... I got to say this is the very first rave dance tune I've heard here, and it's done to a high bar level. My cheap speakers don't do it justice.
Ok... switched to my studio cans.... now that has a proper low end.
I think you should have left the other names in too.... Some years ago in the cakewalk forums someone over there also did a song and named a bunch of the regulars. I did a song that also named a few folks in another forum..... have courage and just do it.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Very cool! Really enjoyed this one. The shout out to Floyd is well deserved. Loved the harmonies. Very well done. I guess this is the week to write songs about songwriting. I just posted one a few days ago about writer's block. Thanks for sharing this one! Steve

The chorus is very New Order Blue Monday and after. The synth guitar riff is COOOL. Nicely done - it rocks.

Thank you Herb. Hey , we got some common ground. We like reliable band members who don't get drunk ,two daughters , music and motorcyles. Oh and in my case , a long suffering wife who puts up with my noise making Herb wrote >" think you should have left the other names in too"< I would love to do that and pay homage to the huge amount of talent here of whom I derive so much musical inspiration but my recent arrival here prevents me from taking that liberty . Thanks Herb for commenting and listening.

Hi Gary Not often we hear dance tracks on here. Not a genre I'm overly fond of, to be honest, but you've done a good job with this. Nice idea and a great little riff. Regards, Leon

Gary, fun listen for sure. Good ol 90's pumping track, but with light-hearted lyrical theme. Style reminds me of band 2Unlimited. Thank you for sharing.

Gary, Excellent! Great opening. Good combination of drums and vocal to provide an infectious rhythm. Are you saying that that guitar riff in the opening is "Guitar patch on my synth"? It is well done!! Sounds great and adds a nice "signature". Excellent use of the BIAB Dance RTs. There have been very few examples offered in the Showcase - and this is the best I can remember. There are a number of elements that show a real understanding of the style - the stops and builds are really well done...the pace of the chorus...the crescendo...the ending stop... All show that you "know what you are doing" here. The vocal is well done and fits the style well. A really good mix. And a clever write. Who is this "Floyd" that you speak of??? HA! Enjoyed this. A lot. fj

I read before listening, and guessed Floyd was in the lyrics. SO I liked it already. Cool song, Gary. Interesting style. Really well put together for this song. Love it.

I give it a 93. It's got a good beat and you can dance to it. (Flashback to American Bandstand)
I like it a lot.

OMG , again O....M....G......!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what to say. I was really worried that I did not get your permission to reference you in the lyrics and you would be angry. I credit you with just about everything I have learnt by listening and studying your wonderful canon of work.I don't know how many times I have watched "the birth of a song" OOO....MMM....GGG !!!! Such an honour (catch breath) Thank you Floyd for your magnificent contribution to the music world. And of course , a personal THANK YOU.

Hi Gary,
I think this is the first dance tune I have heard on these forums. Excellent work on this. Your mixing skills are second to none! Great use of those RTs.
I liked this a lot.

Hi Gary,
Yeah, I'll give it an A+
A great beat, cleverly arranged and put together, with an excellent mix as well. It gave my sub-woofer a good work-out!
Once the chorus kicked in it reminded me of Bronski Beat from the 80s, but anyone outside of the UK might not be familiar with their stuff.
This genre is a lot harder to get to work than some people imagine, but I think you've done an excellent job. Looking forward to hearing your next offering.
Cheers, ROG.

This song really made me smile Lots of imagination used, very clever use of realtracks creating a full sound and catchy rhythm. Great singing, fits the disco mood. I can hear some British influence from the 80's, The Prodigy and many crossover artists. I would gladly hear you continue on this path Janne

Lots of obvious creativity went into this production. Great vocals deliver a most cool lyric. Yep, mr jane is the man. Man, that number of tracks is WAY above our pay grade And your mix took all those tracks and set up a very impressive sound stage on our monitors. We'll play it some more on the "big system" and watch the sub dance across the floor. Excellent! J&B

Wow, this has to be one of the best of the year! Captured the genre perfectly and related it lyrically to the showcase. I especially liked the vox. Great work!

As others mentioned, we don't get much of this style here, and you knocked it out of the park. Clever write, musical, and perhaps most importantly, the chorus sticks in my ear after the song's done - something that doesn't happen that often for me. Thanks for posting, this was a blast to listen to.

Hello Gary,
I don't know if I can top the other compliments you got on this great House song! What a good idea to write about writing lyrics. I thought in a House song there is no singing, but if there is, it was soaked in reverb. You showed me on both topics I was wrong. Very good work you produced while driving your car!

Hi Gary ...
Yeah, I think this is the first Dance/Rave song I've heard on the Forum the 6 or 7 years I've been here.
Man, I so glad you posted this! Super cool all the way! There's so much going on, yet it doesn't sound cluttered or overly busy. Everything is in it's proper and perfect place. I can only try to imagine the amount of time and effort you devoted to this great song. I totally admire what you've accomplished. Great listen ... thanks!!!
Wishing you the very best, Please be safe ...
Alan
